Great thanks for the advice. Orderd a foam roller and started stretches. Let's hope it works, I will be gutted if I can't do my run after all the hard work I've put in from having difficulty in running 1 min to running 45 mins.

Hi, I had a similar problem, I started my first run on a sunday (couldnt wait until the wednesday when I was officially going to start) and so all my dates were off. I wanted to run a Wed/ Fri/ Sunday so i had to keep selecting to run when in fact it was saying i should rest. I had to take some time...

One song I like that keeps me going is Breathe by Kylie Minogue. She sings "breath it won't be long now" ! Definitely what I want to hear!!!! The other thing I do is look for a point up ahead, a tree or a lamppost and just think about getting to that point, that way you break the run down ...

When I stretch I use a rope as I have found it really helps to stretch the calf muscles properly. Have a look on YouTube or google for AIS stretching (active isolated stretching) as there are lots of benefits and this might help you stretch your calf muscles properly. Hope this helps. Hi, I find I can't run without water, just feel the need to drink as my mouth gets very dry. I too don't like anything in my hands so I use a type of bum bag which has a bottle holder.
