Re: Cross country?

A long time ago, I ran Cross Country in high school. I can try to give you some more information to go off of here. The best high school runners in my time could do 5k a little over 16 minutes. But those guys were very good. The majority of varsity runners were in the 18's. That being said, the big ...

Hills: Now, later, even later, or never?

I'm through week One and have a question for the group (posted in the first topic as well)... I live in Pittsburgh, PA in the states, which is a very hilly city. I've got a good flat 3/4 mile loop in a nearby park that I've started running on, but if I'm ever going to run an organized race in this c...

Re: Times and Distances

Is there any trick to running both of these apps at the same time? I downloaded iMapMyRun but was afraid that as soon as I started up GetRunning, it would stop recording. BTW, if GetRunning had the option of recording distance and route, it would become the ultimate app! Just and idea (maybe for a G...

Re: Breathing?

When I ran in High School, they always told us in through the nose and out through the mouth. I think my nose must be defective, because that never worked for me (half the time allergies kept my nose plugged up anyways). The key that I learned was to try and take deep, slow breaths from the diaphram...

Re: Sticky: Introductions!

Hi all! So, it's fair to say that I USED to be a runner. I ran 5k's in High School for sport but moved on to other activities in college. About once year I resolve to start running again, but almost 15 years since my last 5k run and I'm still sitting on the sidelines. I generally take one run, maybe...
