Signed up for my first race

And it just happens to not be a typical 5k. It's called the tough mountain challenge, it's a 5k race, but it is more of a run/obstacle course! (check it out www.toughmountain.com). I had wanted to do it two years ago when they did the first one but I was horribly out of shape and focused on finishin...

Re: Lacking motivation

I wish I could switch with you simongeorge, I love running in the rain! A couple weeks ago we had a bunch of rain and I had my best times. I was able to do my run this morning, part of the problem is that we only have a couple months of heat here so you can never really get use to the heat. I don't ...

Lacking motivation

Week 8 run one is here and I find myself not so excited to run. I think part of the problem is the heat which i terribly hate (it makes me run slow and sweat more than I'd like). The funny thing is I look forward to the run all day, but when it comes time to do it I'm not so excited for it. Here's a...

Re: Heel injury advise needed

If this is something that keeps coming back then you really ought to see your doctor. One of the best things for achilles tendinitis is aggressive stretching (calf stretch). If that isnt helping then you need to see someone about it. I would encourage you to go sooner rather than later. The sooner y...

Heat Wave

Im slightly disappointed that it has become so hot out so quickly! We're in the middle of a heat wave here and I just don't feel that it is safe to run in such heat (especially since I'm not use to the heat). I'm afraid this is going to push me back and I may have to repeat this week, but it's bette...

Re: Week 1 second run....another newbie.

There are many things you will learn as you go through the program. It's tempting to go out and push yourself to the limit, but remember that the goal is to stick with this until the end, if you go to hat too soon youre likely to give up.

Wishing you lots of success!

Re: Just started

I find that whenever I notice someone is outside their house I always pick up my pace, I secretly hope that there will be lots of people outside watching me, but I dread everytime I see someone. Keep at it, you'll look back in a few weeks and be amazed at your progress. I just completed week 7 run 1...

Re: Completed W5 R3!!

I just finished week 6 run 1 today! I have to say this was a bit tougher for me, I'm not sure if it was because it is extra hot today, or if I was tired from an overly active weekend. But I finished and that's what matters!

Glad you've made it through week 5! We're over half way through the program!

Re: Week 5

I'm happy to say that I've completed week 5 run 3! Because of work and driving 2 hours home for the weekend, I did this run in the morning ( I usually do them after work in the evening). It's tough to get up in the morning, and I found myself dreading a run that I've been looking forward to since la...

Re: Week 5

Just finished week 5 run 2. The first run was a challenge. I kept waiting for the little voice to tell me how much longer I had. The thought crossed my mind to walk and repeat it later, but I stumbled through it somehow. My pace is still painfully slow, but I try not to think about it too much. I'll...
