Re: Its HOT out there!

I have been running at 10 PM still to suffer with 95-98 degrees. It's not fun.

Re: Week 1 Run 2 completed

Congratulations all. It's the first step with many to come. But you've already completed the hardest step, which is to get started. I am a few weeks ahead, looking forward to completing the program. All I can say is the running becomes easier. It's gets easier mentally. It gets easier physically. Ke...

Re: Week 6 day 3 - 25 minutes of straight running

Dawn is right... When you hear about the last 5 minutes, it goes by and is encouraging. In fact, when you hear that, you won't even think about the fact that you've run 20 already. And before you know it, the 1 minute prompt will be there.

Re: Week 6 day 3 - 25 minutes of straight running

Roseanne, I just did mine last night. I will admit semi defeat. I had to stop and walk about 3 times. 10 seconds each for the first 2 times and 20 seconds the third. This was in the last 8 minutes. I am going to use an excuse. It was 98 degrees. No water. And I was living on 4 hours sleep the previo...

Re: Run or Rest?

Keep an eye on it. Pain is your body telling you something. Perhaps it is your run method or you have a latent injury. I would suggest looking on youtube for some videos on running forms, it might help.

Re: Finished Week 5 Run 3 DONE!

Roseanne,

Seems like I am just one run ahead of you. I am traveling this week and realized I hate running in Houston more than Dallas. The run was harder than I thought, but my speed was up from my 20 minute run. Good luck tomorrow. I am doing run 2 tonight.

Re: Oh yeah! Just did week 5 run 3!

I did 2 miles with my 5 minute warm up and 20 minute run. The cool down was after I hit the 2 mile mark.

That was W5R3. At that pace, I (including warm up) I am doing 4.8 MPH. Basically, just after 30 minutes, I would hit the 5K mark.

How far did you go in your 20 minutes?

Re: I'm new to this - be gentle

I like the fact that I have "running partner" or "coach" in the application.

As for your calf muscles hurting, it sounds like you worked through that.

Good luck with your running! I am enjoying the program and can't wait to graduate next month.

Re: Exercise on rest days, some questions

That is commonly called cross training. Make sure your give your body one day of rest, without a lot of running or other strenuous exercise to help it recover and build muscle.

Re: Week 3 :-(

Here's something to try.. as I don't know if you are still struggling or not. Change your breathing. Make sure you inhale deep using the diaphragm. Practice it during the walking period. Big breath in, big breath out. Through the mouth both ways. I had been struggling with breathing for a couple run...
