Re: Sticky: Introductions!

Hi Li, it's wonderful news that you're overcoming your disability, and I'm very happy that Get Running is helping you – thank you for coming here and letting everyone know! You, and everyone else, should certainly not worry about repeating a week – I've not had any diseases that have effected me lik...

Re: Question about week 5

Hi paul, I'm glad things are going well and you've got to week five. A few people have asked about the seemingly big jump at the end of week five, and when I first did the couch to 5k program, I also thought it seemed crazy and beyond me. When I actually did the run though, I found I could do it. It...

Re: Sticky: Introductions!

Hi Fiona, It's fantastic you've got to week 6 – very well done! It's great to know Get Running is working well for you. I'm certainly thinking about extending the application, and a 10K plan would be one sensible direction. It'll probably not be ready in time for your needs though :-} My friend Matt...

Re: Sticky: Introductions!

That's fantastic Nicola. Thanks for the 10K suggestion, I'm based in London, and I could do with something to train towards. My advice would be to try not to rush through, and take the program at the suggested pace. I suppose there is a danger there that you might find it too easy though, as you hav...

Re: What do you do on your rest day?

Heh – basically don't run, but if you want to, you can go ahead with some other form of exercise. What did I do on my days off – hmmm – possibly strolled to the cafe sometimes :-) If you use the gym, or do a class like pop-mo, or want to have a swim, then that's all fine. Going for a good walk ought...

Re: Great Reasons to Get Running

Fascinating link Dawn, thanks very much for posting it. It's exactly the kind of thing these forums are for. If you fancy, start a specific thread for people who run with their dogs – I hope a few others will join you :-)

Great Reasons to Get Running

For me: weight loss; better energy; helping me relax; getting outside; and because I like being able to, are all reasons that I run. Here's another fantastic reason. According to researchers at Stanford, running slows down ageing (quite dramatically) and can extend your active life by 16 years! Here...

Re: Sticky: Introductions!

Hi Ron, :-) It's great to hear that you're enjoying running. I really hoped Get Running would help people who don't think of themselves as runner to start running. Somehow, running has an elite atmosphere around it. I'm not sure this is much to do with the running community themselves – I think they...

Re: iPhone armband and Nike+

I've not used Nike+, but I'm told that, like the iPod app, it is allowed to run in the background (Apple have graned it special rights to do this – normal third party applications don't get this privilege). This means that you can start it going and then, start up a run with Get Running, or with Run...
