Re: I have gone from Couch to 5K
After week 9 I have a 5.6km run in mid-July so I will continue doing the 30 minutes 3 times a week until that, then I have another 5K race on 1st October then a 10K in November. So once the 5.6km race is done I will start training for hte 10km and use the October 5k as a training run

Re: I did it- week 5 run 3- what a feeling!
5K = 3.1 miles so it's not as far as you think
I did my first 5K this weekend in 34:25. Don't necessarily expect to be covering the full distance by the end of week 9 - concentrate on being able to run for 30 minutes and build up the distance from there

Re: Rubbed raw :(
It's not normally the fault of the trainers, rather the socks. Cotton socks are bad as they retain sweat and then tend to rub. Proper technical socks (I wear Fox River ones and have not had any issues at all) are low friction and don't absorb sweat in the same way. It *could* the the trainers though...

I have gone from Couch to 5K
Today I did Get Running Week 8 Run 1, but that’s only half the story. I actually did it as park of an organised, timed 5K run organised by ParkRun. ParkRun organise free timed 5K runs every Saturday morning all around the UK, and my closest - in Black Park - is only 20 minutes drive away. I bit the ...

Re: Running tracks
I found an audiobook was really good last time I ran (Wednesday) as it allowed me to totally zone out of the running. It was the best run I've had so far - I ran for 30 minutes despite being told to stop at 25 minutes and felt like I could go on forever!

Re: Struggling with week 4 HELP needed please x
I can only suggest going a bit slower in the *previous* runs so you have something left in the tank for the last run.Rileybaby wrote:I struggled with my breathing on the second 5 min run found that no matter how slow i went it made no real difference!

Re: Struggling with week 4 HELP needed please x
In what way did you struggle? Was it being out of breath or your legs? The best tip I have is to slow down all of the runs to make sure you can get to the end. It's tempting to do the first couple of runs too fast, but then you will suffer in the last couple. When you say you struggled with the 2nd ...
