Re: Horrible Run Today
What I do when this happens is I walk a bit, and then I run again. I think sometimes you body is extra cool and needs some loosening up. I know it can feel like a cheat, but if you've done your run, I don't think it is :-) Even established runners have days when they feel well off peak — that's anno...

Tips for Shin Splints
Just noticed this in a Runner's World tweet – No More Sore Shins. The article seems useful, and there's more advice in the comments.

Re: How crucial are rest days?
Hi Christine, Rest days are important, however, if you'll be at the end of week 8, you'll be running for nearly 30 minutes already, so you'll probably be fine in the 5k. Perhaps you'll just want to walk a little bit of it. You could check your current pace with an App like Run Keeper during one of y...

Re: Putting off progressing through week 5
:-) Hope your holiday goes well. We've just moved away from London to somewhere with proper outdoors, and I've been getting in to running through it. It's not tended, so there are patches that I'm not happy to run through due to the bumps, holes and rocks so I've been mixing up walking and running, ...

Q) "Can I run more"? A) …
Here's a question that regularly comes up: "can I run more" and even "can I run every day". I just found this great article on this topic with a good explanation of why rest is important, and how you can train more while still getting to rest.
Happy running!

Re: Add Tapatalk support to the Forums
Thanks Matt. I'm just testing on the iPad, and it is a great interface for using the forums. It's much snappier having the native support. Well worth a look!

Re: Need advice
Totally agree. No hurry – go back to where you feel comfortable and happy, and go from there. Also, when you go back a few weeks I think there can be a tendency to go out running too fast because you think it ought to be easy! Be careful not to let this get you. Make sure you keep you pace down, and...

Spam – What to do…
Hi, Over the last couple of weeks there's unfortunately been a lot more spam on the forum. First – sorry: it's extremely annoying and gets in the way of the amazing posts you all write supporting, helping, advising and encouraging each other. We're going to monitor this for a little longer and then ...

Re: week3 run1 (mon-wed-fri)
Hi Linda, The biggest thing I've found is really thorough stretching after the run, and any time between when you can without looking too conspicuous ;-) Also, massaging your muscles, ideally in a nice warm bath, will really help too. If you're finding the progress is punishing, please feel free to ...
