Re: Unfit and 41 years old, just starting this week.
Thanks for that BenJohn I'll check on the Bupa London site to see if there is a photo of me but I know that Sarah took a couple of me en route. What I do have is a medal from Bupa proving that I completed the full 10k. I want to say thanks to you as you really have changed my life and given me focus...

Re: Unfit and 41 years old, just starting this week.
Hi all, I just want to give you all an update. I started the program in January having done nothing for years as you can see above. I followed the program religiously throughout and carried on training. Really caught the running bug. On Monday this week, 5 months after staring my first run, I comple...

Re: Week 5 run 3
I was dreading week 5 run3 as well (now on week 8), however I was amazed at how my body coped with it.
Once I got to about 15 minutes it was like my body was on autopilot and it just instinctively took over. It felt amazing. You will be absolutely fine im sure. Trust me if I can do it anyone can!!!

Re: Treadmill v Outdoors
I've been doing all my training indoors until yesterday week 7 run 2. Previously using a treadmill at the gym with it set at 1.5 incline and speed of 9.5kph. Yesterday I did my first ever outdoor run on slightly undulating road route and found it surprisingly doable. Had a fantastic run and felt alm...

Week 6 run 3
Finished week 6 today with a 25 minute run. Felt fantastic so pushed on till I'd run the full 5k. Wish I hadn't cos I'm bloody stiff now lol. Thank you BenJohn, 6 weeks ago I could barely run a flight of stairs without almost collapsing, now I'm running 5k. Albeit indoors on a treadmill so I know it...

Re: ex-smoker
Hi Well done on quitting. It's about 10 years since I quit now, used to be a heavy smoker. You will be absolutely fine. I started 7 weeks ago and couldn't do a 1 minute run without severe pain and puffing. Nearly 7 weeks on I am about to do w6 r3 today a have managed all the runs before without too ...

Need some advice please
Hi all,
Completed week 5 last week, all ok but I have to take this week out.
I am planning to go back to the program from next Monday but my question is should I go straight in to week 6 or would it be better to rerun week 5?
Really appreciate any thoughts
Andy

Week 5 run 3
Just completed the 20 minute run today. I was quite apprehensive before starting today's run as I've not run this long since being at school nearly 25 years ago. I was amazed how the first 10 minutes passed seemingly very easily. Got to 15 minutes and started to get tired but kept the speed going at...

Re: Week 5 run 2
I know what you mean.
Funny thing is though that on the second 8 minute run I suddenly felt really loose and comfortable and seemed to find a 'groove' and actually felt I could have carried on after the 8 minutes.
Am scared but excited by the 20 minute run :0)
