Hi, I started losing weight 2 yrs. ago, and started running because I needed a new goal. I found when I first started to run I gained a few pounds, but by week 5 that came off plus. I think the initial weight gain was just from building muscle in my legs. I'm starting week 9 and could not be happier...

Ran my first 5k today!

Just finished week 6, but Clean Air Council was having there 5k, and my son works for them, so I ran it anyway. I kicked butt!! 36 mins. 5 sec, 8th for my age and gender, and 3rd for Clean Air Council member!!! BTW. I'm a 57 yr old women who never ran before. :P

I too am peeking at the finish line, just finished week 5. I am 57 also, and never, ever ran before but now I love it. For the past week (just finished week 5) I have been continuing on after the program ends to the 5k distance. I walk most of the remaining distance, but always run the last 3 tenths of the run. I do this because I will be running over the finish line in my first 5k, which is coming up before I will ...

My doctor recommended I do a lot of squats to help my knees. And to do some with my feet slightly angled out. It has helped my achy knees.
