Re: Running shoes

Hey! Everyone's feet and running style are different. Go to a proper running shop. They will check your gait and recommend the best shoe for you. There are so many out there no shoe is "best". It is very important to get the right shoe for you to reduce the chance of injuries. I did this a...

Re: Treadmill Fraudster?!

It doesn't matter where you run. You are running!! My first 5k was 40 minutes 15 secs. I've done 8 of them and I'm still only at 33.22!!
It's not where you do it or how fast you do it. It's just doing it that counts :-)

Re: Back pain in week 2

Hi scoggy. Just another thought. I was off running for 3 months due to back pain last year. My physio at the time did her best but really I had a muscle spasm and so I had to rest. My back has just started to pinch again (during running so this may not affect you). My new physio said my gluteal musc...

Re: Weight loss

I can only repeat my mantra Running is for fitness, eating is for weight loss You wont lose any weight unless you eat less. The muscle built up by running will help your body burn more calories but as Jysmystry has said - this is a low intensity programme, it's purely designed to build on your fitne...

Re: Back on course...

I totally agree. Start again slowly. My back went in the summer, and like you not because of the running. I was out for almost 4 months but would have got back to running sooner had I not kept trying to "run through the pain". I only made it worse. However I started running again in Novemb...

Re: Feels like I can walk faster than I run (W4)

Hi Ipsnowchic. When I was in the first few weeks hubby came with me on some of my "runs. He quick march walked along side me and kept up the whole time! It doesn't matter how fast/slow you go as long as its more effort than walking. Thats what counts at this stage and thats what will make you f...

Re: Week 8 and I'm a bit stuck

Running is for fitness. Diet is for weight loss. I didn't lose any weight by just running alone. I had to reign in my eating too. I didn't do any fad diets or cut any of my favourite stuff out, I just ate smaller portions. I lost 28lbs over 8/9 months (I'm not in a hurry  ) Now I am running 5...

Re: Another first timer thanks to Charlie Brooker

I started this as a 42yr old very unfit 3-4 stone overweight woman last April and could barely breath after 1 minute of running  I am now 2 stone lighter, regularly run 5ks and am training for a 10k in march. I run outside and love almost every minute of it 8-) Its addictive and its worth it....

Re: Ladies running shoes advice?

I agree with Jysmystry. A good sports shop or specialist running shop will analyse your running style and recommend the correct shoe for you. I have a great pair of medium support running shoes which I found where the most comfortable after having tried on and tested (on the running machine in the s...

Re: Jan 1 / Week 1 / Run 1

Its very difficult to run into a head wind. Try week 2 and see how you get on. You maybe surprised at yourself! If its too hard then I would suggest you just do run 3 again. Good luck and happy running :D
