Re: Week 5-3

Go slow especially at the start. Start running at the pace you think it slow enough, and then slow down a bit more! Also, break it down into 4 5 minute runs rather than the seemingly impenetrable 20 minutes, and just focus on getting through the next 5 minutes. Most of all think positive - you can d...

Re: Running pace help

4.2 is the speed rather than the pace - as in 4.2 miles/km per hour. The pace is usually referred to in minutes per mile (or minutes per KM). Pace is not important in the early stages of C25K it is *much* more important to run for the specified amount of time rather than for distance. There's plenty...

Couch to 21.1K

On April 27th this year I started GetRunning. Those initial 60 second runs nearly killed me - it was all so hard, my legs hurt, I could barely breath and I had no idea how I was supposed to run for 30 minutes in only 9 weeks. At that time I was nearly 20 stone (275lbs) and knew I had to change my li...

Re: Confessions of a virgin half marathon runner

Kelly - Loving the blog - will send you some comments with some A-Z suggestions :) I am running my first half marathon in 4 weeks (after completing GetRunning at the start of June) so it's nice to read about someone going through the same stuff!

Re: Thank you and goodbye!!

Well done Samantha. It feels great, and getting on to bigger and better things is where the challenge really begins. I ran my first 10K last night, and am loving it. Stick around - as I am trying to - to help out the others going through what we did. Best of luck with everything!

Re: Run or Rest?

Aches are a normal part of exercise, sharp pains are not. Personally I find the aches normally subside once I start running and my muscles loosen up. Sharp pains however shouldn't be run through. But only you can interpret what our body is telling you, but muscle aches are inevitable when starting s...

Re: Look who got a big shout out!!

Think I need to get run keeper! Anything that helps has to be a good thing! One more rest day and off I go again! Hope I can do a long run again. Week 7 here I come. :? Not a fan of the RunKeeper app myself - the iPhone GPS is just not accurate enough for me. I bought a Garmin ForeRunner which is *...
