Square One?

It's been a while. One heck of a while. But here I am. Back to square one. A few years older. A few years fatter and unfitter (is that a word?). The awful plantar fasciitis came and went. And so its time to start again. Flabby behind off the couch. Week 1 Day 1 completed. Let's see how it goes

Re: Wondering when the good days start to outnumber the bad

So true Mike. I would much rather admit to an athletic injury, than a sprain from hauling myself off of the couch. I had a nice run today and even hit a personal distance best. Perhaps my 4 days off was a good thing after all. Seriously, amazes me that 1.) I'm running at all, and 2.) that I love it...

Re: Wondering when the good days start to outnumber the bad

.... I took several days off due to a calf strain ... Ouch. I can sympathise! My left hamstring went 'ping' tonight around 4km into my 6.5km run. Ouch. Had to slow right down. Decided I'll have to slow down my pace and ease up a bit. But it's all good fun. After all - it's easy to strain a muscle g...

Re: A New Me

Sure - you are in the gang. There's no escape! Sounds like you have a good plan there. 12h shifts sure make it hard to run. Especially when the days are so short now. Keep on with the programme. It is adaptable to fit with you. I'm sure you'll get there fine. Keep posting. (And I'll try no...

Re: Newbie - Help with breathing?

Hi CDLady - and welcome! Well done on joining the programme - and this forum. My only bit of advice is to slow down. Your running minutes should be slow enough to be able to hold a conversation if there is someone with you (or if not - just talk to yourself ;) ). Most of us - in the early stages - m...

Re: Just Started

Had to have a few days off without running due to very busy schedule. Nothing from last Thursday to tonight (Tuesday). Realised I was feeling cranky and missing my runs! Wow. And only 4 months ago I would not have understood anyone saying that! LOL. Since finishing the programme I have continued to ...

Re: Gutted!

Mike thanks for the reply it's great when people come back with positive encouragement. I think I just needed a kick up the backside so I had a chat with a mate who is an avid runner. He put a few pointers to me which gave me a lot more belief in myself and my running/jogging. I did the 25 min run ...

Re: Week 5 Run 1

Great Carlos. You'll amaze yourself. Enjoy it. I started this programme back in end July 2010. 46y old and couldn't run to save my life! Stuck with the programme all through the summer and finished week 9 end September 2010. Now I can run for over 60 minutes without problems and manage 15k. Pace inc...
