I don't think it would be wise to introduce more runs. Your muscles need time to recover between runs, so that's why you are only supposed to run three times a week.
But on days you don't run you can do some other exercise to burn calories e.g. walking (in a brisk pace), cycling or swimming.

Re: Increasing speed
I'd advise to finish the program in a pace that is comfortable for you, and not worrying about your speed. After finishing the program, you can start working on your speed. The app 'Runkeeper' (a very useful app anyway) has some built in training schemes for training for a 10k under 55, 60 or 65 min...

Re: Running more than 3 times a week.
Because when doing the training program, your muscles need at least a whole day to recover. During this recovery day, you can do some other activities, such as walking, cycling or swimming.

Re: First 5k finished
For a 10k app you can use the 'Bridge to 10K' app. I don't know on what platforms it is available, I have it on an iPhone. It's not as nice as the Get Running app, the commands are very basic: "Run". "Walk". "Cool down". That's about it.... But it works well.

You can try the 'Bridge to 10K' app. It is from a different company and it isn't as nice as the c25k app, but it does what it has to do.

Re: Weight loss
I've started the program in July and I've finished it in October. Since then, I'm doing 4 - 5 km runs twice a week. Unfortunately, I haven't lost a pound since I started the program (losing weight was one of the reasons to start with the program, apart from working on my general fitness). Maybe I'm ...

Re: Running=insomnia?
I think there is a link between running late at night and insomnia. I've experienced the same, and I did some research on the internet. It has something to do with the level of epinephrine, if I'm right. Now I don't run later than 8.30pm, and I make sure I do some relaxing stuff after my run (watch ...

A good rule after a break is that you start with the last fully completed week.

Re: Runner's etiquette?
The park where I do my runs is full of other runners, especially on a Sunday morning. So I had plenty of opportunity to investigate if and how runners are supposed to greet. Most runners do greet, however runners who run in groups, don't greet. Runnmers say 'Hello', or smile, or raise a hand briefly...

Re: Should I Move on To Week 2?
I've finished the program some time ago. Every time I had to move on to a new week, I thought that it was such a big step and I thought I couldn't make it. But the way the program is organised, the steps you have to do, are doable.
So, just give it a try and surprise yourself!
