How often are you running each week right now? You may want to try walking or swimming on off days or short run days. Also, try to eat more protein and less carbs in your diet as that may help. Try keeping track of your calories and meals just like you do with your runs.

Just don't over do it. You may want to run in the morning and walk at night rather than doing them on top of each other. If your muscles are aching or sore after your runs, don't go walking on your regular route. Just listen to your body and don't push it too far or you could injure yourself.

If your knees are hurting that bad, I would see a doctor and get some tests done. Do you have Affordable Health Insurance ? I've also reduced my knee pains from running by changing my running style. I try to land mid-sole too and it seems to help. I also prefer to run on trails rather than pavement and I think that has helped. If you do change to running mid-sole rather than heel strikes, take it easy at first as you'll ...
