Re: What do people use to carry their phones?
Have you considered a spibelt? Available online. Small comfy expanding waist pack. Very useful if you just want phone key etc.

Sport relief!
Well I just ran the Sport relief 3 miles in 33 minutes. Ok, I came in just ahead of the winner of the 6 mile run but I did it! Didn't stop once. Not bad for my first 'race' at the age of 60 having started Get Running in July after a life of exercise avoidance. Thank you matt and benjohn for how I fe...

Re: Helpful link - How to lace running shoes
Reading some of these posts I realise how lucky I was in my first visit to a proper running shop. Despite me falling off the treadmill, to the mortification of accompanying daughter, the young lad helped me use said treadmill for the first time, analysed my gait, brought several suitable pairs of tr...

Re: Week 4, & feeling nervous!
The first thing I did was to take two or three really deep breaths with a Vicks menthol inhaler, the one shaped like a chubby crayon, just at the end of the warm up before running. This helps get plenty of air in. I also make sure I run to music with a definite beat and practice breathing deeply bef...

Re: Just finished
Hi Keep Running, thanks for the good wishes and right back at you. It has been fun following someone at the same stage, although you have clearly found your niche whereas for me running will continue to be a real challenge tho' one I am really glad to have taken on. As for the future, I am going to ...

Re: Just finished
Thanks Queenie and good luck as you make your way through the program. And re one of your other posts, my husband and I were married 10 years before we managed to have our first child, followed by complete surprise babies 19 months and 6 years later. The first arrived only after we had given up, boo...

Just finished
Well, I made it! Week 9 run 3 completed and although I still only cover 2.5 miles in the half hour I reckon that's not bad for someone who had never EVER run more than 100 metres in my life. I never missed a run and never stopped for a pause; I now intend to repeat week 9 runs until I can do 5k in t...

Re: Eeekkk week 5 run 3
Murph is right, this is a big challenge for us all. When my students complain that the work I set is hard I remind them of JFK's speech about man going to the moon not because it is easy but because it is hard, and remind them that the things we are most proud of are the things we've struggled to ma...

Re: A great app week 7
Hi Ann, like you I have just run week7 run1. It's my 60th birthday today and this app has got me running for the first time in my life. The wind at times was so strong I was basically running on the spot but still kept going for 25 mins. The feeling of accomplishment is so great that even though I d...
