Re: Inspired by Charlie Brooker!

I just read the Charlie Brooker piece. I laughed out loud, then sent it to a couple of friends who have wondered what terrible running demon has possessed me.

Re: Have you ever craved a run when you've never really done

Jules - I had those running desires for my entire life, but every time I tried to run, I burnt out on my first run ... until I started Get Running 11 weeks ago. You've chosen the right way to do it. I'm overweight, middle aged and a smoker. 2 weeks ago, I ran 5k for the first time. When I started, I...

Re: Making the time to run

Good for you! If you can make it through the first few weeks, I swear that it gets even better. I used this program to start running for the first time ever at 47 yrs. and completed it a few weeks ago. It's amazing that 11 weeks ago I was huffing through 1 minute runs-now I'm grumpy if I only have t...

Re: Happy and Sad!

Bravo Jimmy Ash! Well done! I finished a few weeks ago myself and am feeling very lonely without coach Claire. I loaded a bridge to 10k app, but it's just not the same. My next step is to see what the runs are for the 10 K, and just rewind Get Running as I go along. It's crazy, and may not work, but...

Re: Slow Start

I thought that it was just me, but my pace is faster on the tail end of my run as well. The first time that I noticed it was after the 15 minute mark. I thought that there was something wrong with my pace tracker. I'm still finding the first 10-15 minutes to be harder than the last 15-30. Could this...

Re: Good stretches for hip flexors?

On the opening page of the Get Running app, there is a box on the bottom left corner with a question mark. Tap it, and it opens up a page of basic running information. Scroll down, and you eventually arrive at stretching. The link takes you to a site with all manner of stretches. I had hip flexor pa...

Re: FINISHED

It's crazy isn't it? I finished on the same day you did and may do a 5k on Thanksgiving as well. It depends on the amount of snow still on the ground here in Minnesota. Since you mentioned Thanksgiving, I imagine that you are also in the US. Where are you located?

Re: Just an update !

Maddy - It looks as though the two of us could run happily together :) . I tend to average about 11:10 min/k, and I also hit the 5k mark unintentionally. After running for about 35 min., I realized that I could just keep going. It took me 47 min. to do it, but I did it. The snow finally started here...
