Re: Nike+ iPhone GPS 6% different?

Many people have reported higher accuracy with Nike+ since it updated for iOS7. My problem was the opposite: my distances became wildly inaccurate and I had to recalibrate.

Re: *** ~ Please, Advice On Running Schedule & Shoes ~ ***

Find a local place, a small shop. Get fitted. Find your shoe. Don't buy it right away, though, go home and search online for it because you may be able to find a better deal. As for a running schedule, I found the Get Running program to be perfect. I've done other couch to 5k programs and this one f...

Re: Tread Mill v Outdoor Problem

On a treadmill, you're simply not working as hard. You are moving, but the ground beneath you is also in motion, which means that you move differently than you would if you were outdoors. Stick with outdoor running for a little while until you get better at it, and then if you find you still prefer ...

Re: Tread Mill v Outdoor Problem

What exactly is stopping you from running longer than 15 minutes outdoors? Is it that you physically can't because you are too out of breath, or is it more of a mental thing like your legs are tired? Because treadmill running and outdoor running are two totally different beasts: I can run for two ho...

Re: Laughing Gravy's accountability thread

Taking a break is probably the best thing you could do at this point. It will give your body some time to heal. It's great that you're remaining active, because that will definitely help you to come back strong for your first run after resting for a few weeks. I had to do the same thing when I had s...

Re: How fast?

Seriously, don't beat yourself up! Everyone runs at their own unique pace. Personally, I am slow as heck, even after almost 4 years. I feel like I'm doing it all wrong, but truly I am more happy doing distance runs than working on increasing my pace. I think the fastest I've ever been on a short run...

Re: Shin splints

I am prone to shin splints as well, and the first year or so of running (constantly upping mileage/intensity) was a never-ending struggle. Generally, I would take a painkiller about 40 minutes before heading out to run, but every month or so, I would take a week off to let my shins heal. It helped a...

Maybe you got some dirt in there? Maybe there was a little piece of balled up thread inside your sock that was just enough to rub you raw? It happens sometimes. "Constant vigilance!" as Professor Moody would say.

Re: I did it!!! But now need advice.... :)))

I chose to continue running 30 or 45 minutes at a time and stalled hard: I had much better results when I moved on to a half marathon training program. While I never completed it, and probably won't since nursing school is way more intense than I had expected, I really enjoyed the 8 and 9 mile runs ...
