Hi everyone! I am back :)
I did the Couch to 5k program in 2011/2012 and I have just started up again (into my 5th week).
During that time (in a blog) I tracked every run and gave myself tips for the next time. I thought I would share the link again because since restarting the program I have ...

Re: Good tips? Especially to win the mental battles?
And ausgirl, I love your blog and all the tips you have on it - especially the tips on motivation and on completing time goals before tackling pace and distance. I'm a bit disheartened by my pace at the moment but I know it's something to work on later. One thing at a time!

I have collated all the little things I learned along the way, both psychological and physical. I hope they can help you too. There is heaps of things I wish someone told me before...too many to write in here!

Re: Runner's etiquette?
Everyone I have ever passed in my exercise greets the passer by with a chirpy "Good morning!" or evening, or afternoon accompanied by a smile. I live in Australia and usually the people exercising are happy people. I think it is actually considered rude here if you don't and I always feel a little ...

Re: Another request for the next app
Thanks Ted :-) Another tip – try to get in touch with your local running club! You're very likely to find they welcome you warmly and running with other people is a great way to progress!

Re: Week 1 Run 1 terror
First run done and it wasn't bad at all - kept the treadmill at a 2.5 incline, walked at a speed of 5.3 and "ran" at 6.5. Red faced but feeling really pleased. Woo! :P
Well done! I am not doing it on a treadmill, so I have no idea what those speeds mean, but it sounds way harder than what I ...

Re: Ladies running shoes advice?
I got fitted out at the local sports shoe store that had a computer that tracked my step. So I made them do all that work for me, then I went and bought my pair online for much cheaper. I got a pair of Mizuno Wave Alchemy 11s, as they give my turning ankles support and control. Asics Kayanos are ...

Re: Should I Move on To Week 2?
I went through exactly the same thoughts as you, although I had to train myself to not be deterred by 'what a run might be like' and just keep going with the schedule. It is all psychological. Every week is a new step up, where you are thinking "Oh my goodness, I cannot imagine running for that long ...

Re: Starting Week 2 tomorrow
Well done, I have found a path that is about 1/2 mile long so I use that and double back, it is reasonably flat with a couple of small inclines. I hope that once I start the 20 minute runs ( i think it is week 7) I will be able to go out further and enjoy more of the surroundings but for now it is ...
