Re: Week 5 run 3 - solid 20 mins (eek!)

Yey me! Ran for 20 minutes non stop. Hard to believe and I never would have thought it possible at the beginning of the year. Kept the pace really slow and steady and focused on breathing deep and gentle and through my nose. I had a moment of panic after the first minute as the self doubt crept in. ...

Re: High blood pressure / Heart rate monitor

Thanks for these responses. Has made a big difference. Ive stopped worrying so much the running's gonna kill me. In fact I now feel the real danger would be in not sticking to it! Anyway if it goes wrong least I will have tried. Cheers!

Re: Finished week 6, Ready for more

Wow! That's a fantastic achievement! You should be super proud of yourself. I think stamina first seems v sensible and I'm gonna do the same. I've just finished week 3 today and am astounded that it's been fine. Same as you I walk about 4mph and run about 5mph on the road. Haven't tried the treadmil...

High blood pressure / Heart rate monitor

I've just found out this week I've got moderately high blood pressure 145/88. Its made me feel a bit nervous about running like I'm gonna suddenly have a stroke or something. The doc said it was ok to trun but I feel a bit paranoid. This is seriously bad news as I'm on week 3 and I'm loving loving l...

Re: Sticky: Introductions!

Hello, a late intro, I'm 40 years from london, 2 small children, overweight, underactive thyroid, generally knackered, never run before. I call myself trunner as it describes my running style of part run part trudge. But somehow I find myself at the end of week 2 and chomping at the bit to start wee...

Re: Should I Move on To Week 2?

I say onwards an upwards! I've just astounded myself by finishing week 2 today having assumed at the start of the programme I would be repeating each week at least 3 times! I felt the same as you, ie I managed week 1 but not exactly triumphantly. And week 2 has been similar although the sheer joy of...
