Re: Advice for sore knees
Seeing an MD is of course a good idea, I strongly reccomend it. If you bought running shoes off the shelf with out a gait analysis, it may actually be your shoes. Most running stores will have you get on a treadmill and run, so they can see how your gait is, and then help you choose footwear based o...

Re: Suitable footwear and bra advice please ??
I love my Nike running shoes, it's best to have your gait assessed. If you are more generously proportioned on top, I swear by the Enell bra. It is a hook front closure, no underwire, wicking material, and the ladies don't move AT ALL. Traditional sports bras have not worked well for me, and I have ...

Re: W4r2 today
It's fantastic that you are both progressing so well! But a tiny word of caution; unless you were very active before this, I would follow the running program pretty close to as written. Stress fractures and muscle tears happen because you stress things too fast, and you can't see them. You are progr...

Re: Started my 1st run but only completed half :(
:D you completed HALF! That is waaaay more than you did the day before. It took me a long while to get through week 1. I am now at week 4, which I have had to repeat, twice! The only race you are running is against yourself. You might try BodyGlide, a product designed for runners that keeps down bli...

You keep repeating week one until it gets easier, and it will!!! If you got through a triple bypass, you can get through this!

Re: Unbelievably disappointed. :((((
You can build cardiovascular endurance over a period of weeks. You can build muscular endurance over a period of months. You build bone mass and endurance over a year. That's why when people walked for awhile and then went back to it, they were able to tolerate it better. This doesn't mean that you ...

Re: Back pain in week 2
A lot of back pain in new runners is weakness, the gluteals (as mentioned before), but also abdominal and the erector spinae muscles of the back. When your back is flared up, consider doing some of your trainng in water. Do your jogs in waist deep water, it removes the jarring and the resistance of ...

Re: Sticky: Introductions!
Hi! I'm just getting started in Ohio. I have done a couch to 5k program before, but wasn't so successful at staying with running. Having the intervals spoken to me is so much better than staring at my lap timer and waiting for it to be over! I think this ap will help me stick with it. I am doing thi...

Re: Help needed please (GUTTED)
I am sorry that you suffered an injury! Set backs are always difficult, but you are doing the right thing by not trying to run through it. If your pain persists much longer, you should get checked out. General soreness for about a week is common, but if you are in real pain or it is going past that ...
