Re: Losing weight

Hi Everyone, Since completing C25K, I run for 30 mins 3-4 times a week. My weight goes up and down by about 4 pounds on a regular basis but, I am a more toned size 12 which makes me look like I have lost weight! I too, love my food and although I eat healthy food and snacks regularly throughout the ...

Re: Getting ready

Hi Lynda, Everyone on here was a running beginner. Doesn't matter if someone is a regular gym goer, plays squash, walks the dogs often etc, we all picked get running because it was something we aspired to do. Thinking about how tough it might be is always a bigger hurdle to get over than actually ge...

Re: I'm stuck

Hey Sweaty Swede, (great name by the way!) I feel your pain and was complaining about this on Twitter the other day! I have gone from running 5k fairly comfortably one day to then, barely managing 3k during the next run - I too was running 4 times a week but have missed a few sessions lately, am mov...

Re: Life after get running - new app needed

I have a Nike+ but don't find it acurate enough and Run Keeper, but as you can't use it at the same time as the Get Running app, it's no good as I need the verbal feedback! So, as I'm now running for forty minutes, I have found a way to still use Get Running. I know how far I walk for my warm up so ...

Re: I'm starting to feel like a real runner!

Zoe, I know just what you mean! When I managed my first ever 20 minute run, I couldn't stop telling people that I'm a 'real' runner now! As a previous non-runner for the whole of my 35 year old life, it is literally life changing when you realise you can come from nothing, train slowly and actually ...

Re: What are you going to do next?

In February 2010, I set myself the dream of being able to run a Race for Life 5k on July 18th. Starting from scratch and having hated running for my whole 35 year old life, I can now run a 45 minute 5k in one go. It's not quick, I grant you, but it has been the best fitness achievement of my entire ...

Re: When's best to eat?

Hi Debs, I always run after work (I admire anyone that can get up early in the morning!) and try and eat regular snacks throughout the day. 7.10am Breakfast - 1 weetabix, scoop of museli, low fat yoghurt and orange juice 10.30am - 1 large chopped carrot and 4 cherry tomatoes 11.45 - handful of grape...

Re: New runner - bad feet!

Hi Mudbunny, Take a look at the post 'Looking for new shoes? Read this'. Both myself and Toilet Duck had great advice via http://www.sweatshop.co.uk/ - I agree with Benjohn that shoes should be no older than 18 months. They gave us free gait analysis and catered for my above average foot size (femal...

Re: Week 4 Knee Pain

Hi Stuart, From a completely non-medical point of view, I suffered with 'shankle' pain (an officially made up word that described pain in my ankles and half way up my shins) after doing a much longer run/walk than normal. I hobbled around in pain the next day and did another run but, really regrette...
