Re: Need Advice for July 22nd 5k - in Two weeks - thanks
Well, two weeks before my race I start feeling sick. Stomach's been off for a week. Doctor is running tests and told me not to run. I probably need to go on antibiotics. Race if off, but there are plenty of 5ks in Chicago this summer. Sucks that this happened right before my first 5k. I'll probably ...

Re: On to week 9!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@Lauraeliza30 I think we are on the same page, a 4 oz chicken with some veggies is a snack to me. :) I have a big appetite, we Greeks like to eat. I've noticed that I like to eat at night, especially because I run after dinner and frequently work into the evening. So I start to get hungry again at 1...

Re: On to week 9!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@E-Ro Yes I lost weight, 10-12 lbs (note: I'm a guy, not that it makes a difference). Started at 223 lbs week 1, just finished week 9 and now I'm down to 211-210 ish. In regards to eating, here are the general rules I follow. Eat well proportioned food at breakfast and lunch, these are my bigger mea...

Re: Need Advice for July 22nd 5k - in Two weeks - thanks
Well, just finished my run using the "Mapmyrun" app. I didn't see your post till after my run. I ran for 3.4 miles in 36 minutes. I finished 3.0 miles in about 32:30 minutes at a average 10:40 min/mile pace. I'm thinking its not bad considering I haven't ran 3.0 miles before. Hopefully tha...

Need Advice for July 22nd 5k - in Two weeks - thanks
I finished the Get Running app on July 8th. I ran a little over 2.5 miles (maybe 2.75) in 30 minutes. Have been cramping at the end but overall not bad. My first 5k race is July 22nd and I'm not sure how to train for the next two weeks. How many rest days should I take before the race on Sunday? Thi...

Re: Noob runner looking for shoes
I have similar feet, My foot width is 2E and not much of an arch. Basically flat footed. I bought these Brooks because the fit was fantastic. Getting fitted is recommended, its not the cheapest way to buy shoes but its your feet, its worth it. http://www.brooksrunning.com/Brooks-Adrenaline-GTS-12-Me...

Re: Treadmill vs Outside
I'm not an expert but I agree with your friend, if you are planning on running a 5k I would run outside. Running outside is more difficult because you don't have a machine propelling you. You are pushing yourself to keep a certain pace. If you want to check your pace, there are other apps like RunKe...

Re: Looking for recommendations for a 10K App
Does the "Bridge to 10K" app allow you to increase the walk time? I would prefer to walk 2-3 min in between the runs. I look forward to starting this app after my 5k in July.

Re: Finishing WK7, Concerned about 5k on July 22nd
Thanks SimonGeorge and Lauraeliza30 I was surprised I cut my time on my Wk7R2 run, my abs and right leg were cramping up. Apparently I'm getting better. I'm sticking with the program. Maybe on Wk 10 I'll try some 3 mile runs just to see if I can do the distance. Week 11 is race week so I want to go ...

Re: Cheated a little......
Both my bosses are avid runners. They've said that running log distance is all in your head. Of course you have to do some training but in the end, its a mind game. I listen to music as well to keep myself distracted. I also start day dreaming and think about work, life, and the time just flies by. ...
