Re: Week Five question

That is correct! We've all been there, my friend. That 20 minute run is the run. There is no other run in the entire program that comes close to being as significant as that one. If you look through the forum archives, you will find lots of threads that feature runners freaking out about the prospec...

Re: Any other newby's out there?!

I'm still a little stuck in the mindset that I'm never going to run for 30 mins non stop, but on the other hand I'm thinking 'if I gave up smoking 8 months ago I can do anything'! Damn straight! I gave up smoking myself (though I do use those electronic ones from time to time), so I have an idea of...

Re: Rest days?

I'd stick to the rest days. I imagine most of us here see the app as a potential framework for a much fitter, healthier life ahead of us. So there is no reason to over-exert ourselves or risk anything for the duration of the app. Just get it all completed, become 30 minute runners, and take it from ...

Re: I'll be a runner again!

Hey Neroshrimp. The only tip I have for motivating yourself while you run is to try a bunch of things and see what works for you! I remember going through three phases while I was doing the app. Phase one: all I did was listen to the app. The runs might have been short, but I was so unfit that I fel...

Re: Any other newby's out there?!

Hey Charley, There are plenty of thread diaries out there (including mine - 'And so it begins') which track every run. It's well worth making a cup of coffee and taking an hour or two to read through the archive of threads! I'll tell you a couple of things that may fire you up... When I started this...

Re: Know I will love it when out running, but struggling to

Hi Mijordaa. I have always been skeptical about the use of the term "motivation", because motivation should be self-evident. If I asked you to list reasons why you want to run, I am sure you could provide me with a list of 50 compelling reasons. That right there would be your motivation. S...

Re: And so it begins

Week 9, R1, 2, 3 - COURSE COMPLETE I am done! To be frank, I felt like I'd completed the course as soon as the intervals were over, perhaps even the 20 minute run. Whether you are running 25, 28, 30 minutes, it didn't really matter to me. The point was I could run consistently for a long time, and ...

Re: And so it begins

Toadie: Heh heh. Maybe missing runs is a symptom of progressing to the later stages. I want to believe that it is a confidence thing. That 20 minute mark is just such a watershed - once you're doing long regular runs, I think the self-belief just skyrockets, allowing us to miss the occasional run. ...

Re: And so it begins

Sorry for the lack of updates, let me try to cover the last couple of weeks. 28 minutes I have now done 3 x 28 minutes. I think that takes me to the end of week eight, but I'm not that sure (once you are past the intervals you stop becoming obsessed with which week it is!) They have been tough, but ...
