Re: Absolute Beginner!
Hi z3angel, I've not been checking the forum for a while but I have been running & I've finished week 3 now. Well, I say finished, I found it quite a step up from a minute and a half to three minutes so I think I'm going to repeat it again just to get more comfortable before moving on. I know wh...

Re: Absolute Beginner!
I've just found another reason to love this app! I forgot to charge my iPhone & as I was leaving realised that I only had 15% battery left. I did the run with no music in the background & it only used 5% of the battery - excellent! By the way - I'm off to shop for shoes in Cork tomorrow so h...

Re: Absolute Beginner!
PS. Matt - I'm hoping to buy some new trainers tomorrow but haven't been in a sports shop for years and don't really know what to ask for - there seems to be a bewildering array to choose from. Do you have any tips? Thanks

Re: Absolute Beginner!
Hi everyone and a huge thank you for all the encouragement. I did week one twice just to make sure I wasn't pushing myself too far too fast! And I've now done the first run if week 2, with the second one due this evening. I'm definately finding that the warm down is incredibly important - any achs a...

Re: What do you listen to when you are running then?? ;)
I started off listening to music, but now I'm a complete convert to comedy podcasts, particularly the Friday Night Comedy Show on BBC Radio 4 - laughing your way through a run is definately the way to go!

Re: Absolute Beginner!
Hi Angie, Thanks for the encouragement. I'm still going strong - it's only been 4 runs so far but that's more than I've ever run before! I'm repeating week one again, just to make sure I don't overdo it too early on, but what I am doing is making sure that I run a bit more energetically to gradually...

Absolute Beginner!
40 is looming on the horizon and I must have tried every diet known to man but the realisation has just sunk in that the weight is never going to go off and stay off if exercise doesn't play an ongoing role. I've always been slightly envious of people who love running and get such a kick out of it s...

Re: Week One Run One!
Hi there, I was going to start a new thread but I saw yours and had to reply. I'm also rapidly approaching 40 (next Jan) and I did my first ever run on Tuesday! I'm heading out for my second this evening. I've been doing a bit if walking in the meantime and I have to say my ankles are quite sore - i...
