Re: New guy- On my second run of week one...

Hi Gawii, Congrats for starting the program.:) Don't be surprised if you find each week to be a bit of a challenge. It takes time to condition the body to running. Regarding food, you are on the right track, cut back on junk food and subsitute with healthy food. I usually have coffee and a banana be...

Re: This might be running heresy but...

You may be on to something, Magnolia. I am learning that less might be more for me and running shoes. For three months I have been running in Saucony Progrid Glides, a stability shoe, because my feet are flat. I now have posterior shin splints. I have not run for almost a week. My legs were feeling ...

Re: New runner

Do take care of your shins. I finished the program without injury, and now, a month after finishing, I have shin splints. I haven't run since last Saturday. Rest, stretching and ice are helping. Ice works very well.

Re: Note of Encouragement to All you Runners!!!

Speaking only for myself... I finished the program on schedule and am still running. I ran my first 5k Race September 18 with a time of 34:50. I still use the app to time my runs and I am looking forward to competing in another 5k soon. The Graduate forum is definitely not as active as the Beginner'...

Name: Lisa Area: Midwest, U.S. Completed: September 4, 2010 Comments: I have always wanted to participate in 5K events as a runner, but kept procrastinating. In the past, all my efforts at running failed. Too much. Too soon. With this program I eased into running, which is exactly what I needed to d...

Re: Struggling

starbuckmoxie, I am sorry you are struggling. Maybe spending a week, or so, doing 20 minute runs and increasing minute by minute until 25 minutes becomes more comfortable? Kind of like a mini-program within the program. Week 7's 25 minute runs were the most difficult for me too, thought I would coll...

Re: How fast are you running?

I live in the Midwest US. I run outside, either early mornings or after sunset, and I am about to begin week 8 tomorrow. I ran 2 miles in 25 minutes. Not covering as much ground as I'd like. :(

Re: 20 minute run in week 5?!

So happy! I completed w5r3! I doubted myself at 15 minutes, but I pushed through it and even ran 2 minutes extra (it was downhill anyway).

Re: W1R1 done!!!!'

Good for you on the cycling and running! I am planning to run in a 5k on September 18. I thought that would be the proud moment but like you each run gives a nice sense of accomplishment.
