Re: Starting 11/22

Pace yourself- although we refer to it as 'running' it probably isn't wise to just hammer the pavement when you're starting- jog at a pace that you're comfortable at. When I started W1R1 I went all out each 8 minute run and knackered myself out. Also get a pair of running shoes and some running gear...

Re: Best tunes to run to..

I think changing your playlist is pretty important, as listening to the same old stuff again and again can have the opposite effect in that it is offputting. Nice playlist though Lisa.

Re: Best tunes to run to..

I use my 'on the go' playlist and add and delete as I feel. I'm more into my metal/rock music if truth be told, but I quite like 'Stronger' by Kanye West to run to- even though I think Kanye West is a real tool. I once had 'Bat Out Of Hell' on my running list (must have added by accident) the full t...

Re: Progress what happens??

I think it's best to stick to the plan no matter how you feel- just as you sometimes have bad running days, you can also get days when your enegery levels are just a bit above the norm and you feel that you can do more. Some runs I have felt that I might have to repeat a week because it has been tha...

Re: Week 4... Feeling disheartened

I'm on W4R3 tomorrow, and from what I've experienced and read so far, you sometimes take a step backwards before you can move on. I think W3R1 was the 'step back' for me so far, and with hindsight I think I really struggled because I didn't pace myself right and there were too many distractions (peo...

Re: Knees!

I'd be interested to see the response to this too. I've got W4R2 tomorrow and I've had a little bit of discomfort in my knees too- I'm not sure if it's just my body using muscles that I havent used before or if it is something more serious. It doesn't hurt me so much that I notice it too bad aside f...

Best tunes to run to..

I'm afraid that I'm a pauper and so I only have a second hand 2G iphone that i paid £90 for on e-bay earlier this year- so I don't have any apps like Nike GPS to change my music according to my pace. That said I do like my tunes, so I was wondering what playlist you kick in before going on a run? I ...

Re: Running on footpaths

Cheers guys. I must have to warm up/down a bit more than I currently do. I spend about a minute or so on stretching before and after right now. I'll try the ice too. I don't think my running shoes have anything to do with it (though I'm not ruling it out.) I just don't want to get a long term problem.

Re: Just started 2nd Week

Is it the one in Manchester that you're training for? Thats the one I'm training for too. I'm literally starting from being a bit of a lazy slob- so I am hoping that 'Get Running' and then 'B210K' will coach me to be good enough to run 10k.

Re: Week 5 run 3

Well done with that one- it seems that W5R3 is 'infamous' amongst the people on these forums! I'm doing W4R1 on Monday, so it isn't that far off for me. I honestly thought that I might have to repeat week 3 too after an awful first run, but it is amazing the way that the mind works and the rest of w...
