Re: Anxiety to run on the street

The thing is, you should be enjoying yourself. And if you enjoy your treadmill runs more, stick with that for now. If I were you, I'd turn the incline to 1 or 2% to better simulate an outdoor run, though. In case you decide to get back outside, this makes the transition a little easier.

Re: ~ Bleeding After Running: Common Causes ~

Once, a combination of sunscreen and road dirt combined to rub the backs of my heels bloody. I didn't even feel it until I stopped running, but I made sure in the future to wear longer socks to keep it from happening again.

Re: Wk 8 feeling good!

Sometimes (well, a lot of the time, actually) when you get a cold, it takes a little while to get back in the running groove. You may no longer feel sick, but your body is still kind of sluggish. Yesterday I did my first run in over a week, the result of a horribly debilitating cold the whole househ...

Completed my first race: Run For Your Lives

I've never been interested in running actual races, just because I don't get much out of being competitive. But when I heard that Run For Your Lives was putting on a race just 40 minutes away from me, I had to sign up. It's not the usual race: this is a zombie apocalypse. You must make your way thro...

Re: New...

Take it slowly! Your aim is to keep moving, and it doesn't matter how slow you're going. Remember, before you can run fast, you have to be able to run.

Re: Wk 7 done

Don't worry about running 5k right now. Focus on the more immediate thing: week 8! Once you finish the program, depending on what kind of distance you are covering, you may find that a 5k is not that big of a stretch. Or maybe you'll decide to just keep on running 30 minutes, and not worry about dis...

Re: Help!!

Fatguy, no, treadmills are fine! Set the incline to about 2 degrees so that it's more similar to running outdoors. That way, if later on you decide to take your runs outside, the transition is not so painful. Treadmills are great for those just starting out because they're easier on your shins and k...

Re: Help!!

Hello there! I've done the C25k program several times and am training for a half marathon at the present. I've lost about 25 pounds through running/diet changes. Been there, done that, got the t-shirt, I guess you might say. First of all, RELAX! It is going to be a struggle at first! No one fi...

Re: Ran 20 mins!!!!

The runs can be done on any day you like, so you don't have to follow the Monday-Wednesday-Friday schedule if it doesn't work for you. As long as you're getting out there every few days, it doesn't matter very much what kind of scheudle you're on, or if you're on one at all. edit: BTW, well done on ...

Re: Hectic Schedule and Running

I'm a full time nursing student, and a mom, and training for a half marathon. I really, honestly, don't know how I'm going to fit these mid-week 4 mile runs in now that the training is really ramping up. Two is managable, three is only okay during certain days of the week, but four? I have no advice...
