Week 9

Alrighty, zoom with me back to 8 weeks ago. I had just downloaded this app on my iPod called "Get Running," and had a free afternoon to try it out. So I threw my iPod in my pocket, plugged in my earbuds, and headed outside. That day, I "ran" one-minute segments, and thought I was...

Re: Week 1 Run 1 Done!

Meggie: In several weeks, I want you to come back to your post about the difficulties of running 1.5 minutes at a time. I promise you'll look back on it and just smile, since you're about to do not only 1.5 minutes, but in just a matter of time, you'll be up to THIRTY of 'em! Keep it up! :)

Re: New at running, breathing tips needed

My lungs were almost the exact same way! Somewhere around the beginning of week 4, I just felt good during the runs! I notice that I don't have any trouble at all with breathing while I run, and it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside :D

Way to go!!

Re: Did my first run - feel like I'm going to die!!!

Ditto to startknut! It was tough for me at first, due to "Couch Shock" (my body was so used to sitting that my legs completely rebelled). But after a couple weeks of getting into the routine, I started looking forward to my runs! Now, if you're thinking, "he probably just says that al...

Woohoo! And to think that you were worried about the 3-minute increments at the start of this week! Way to go, Steph! :D

Re: Week one!

Mary, I start week 6 tomorrow. I can't believe I've actually made it this far-- only 4 weeks to go! I know how you feel now, but don't worry at all about it, because in a few weeks, you'll feel amazing! If you get discouraged, just keep remembering that no matter how slow you go, or how little dista...

Re: Week 5 run 3 - solid 20 mins (eek!)

Sorry I didn't post yesterday (had a huge visit with family), so I guess I'll say it here and now: I DID IT!!!!!!!!!!! I can't believe how easy it was! I even felt good after it! This is the first time in the program that I have felt that running for 30 minutes straight might finally be attainable! ...

Re: Week one!

Nice to "meet" you, Mary! It's so wonderful that you've acted on your decision for health! I'm really glad I found this forum, because the encouragement I get (both directly and indirectly) before each run is wonderful! For me, the first week or two was the worst for pain, but it all seeme...
