Re: Audiobooks and podcasts?

Hi! Yup, Get Running should work fine with audiobooks and podcasts, or anything else that's playing from the iPod app. By default, Get Running fades down your iPod audio when giving voice prompts, but leaves it playing in the background. This works well for music, but of course might mean you miss b...

Re: The mental battle

Yup, well done on sticking with it! I definitely recognise those symptoms :) It really does get easier as you go along. Bear in mind that progress in running doesn't really seem to be that linear -- it might just be that in two weeks' time you suddenly break through this plateau of it being a battle...

Re: Tiredness

Hi Vicki, First off, let me say I have no medical qualifications! I think it's probably worth going to see your doctor to get an opinion, because they'll know the right questions to ask. Tiredness can be caused by *so* many different things, and there's a lot going on in your life by the sound of it...

Re: Getting ready

Hi Lynda, I can only really echo what others have said. I was a complete beginner when I started with Get Running. And I went through the plan, exactly how it said. Some of it was a real challenge. Some runs were easier, some were harder -- even if they were the same run from the same week of the pl...

Re: How do you play music with the app?

Hi again! There is a chance of Get Running working with other apps, if you're using a phone which has been upgraded -- or supplied with -- Apple's new iOS 4 update. However, it will probably need a new version of the music playing app, and Get Running, to take full advantage of the new OS features. ...

Re: feeling a failure

Hi Donna, Don't beat yourself up if your calf gives way! There's nothing much you can do about that. Have you taken any medical advice? Maybe a doc or a physio could check things out for you. Definitely don't struggle on through injury, as you'll just make things worse. Give yourself a break, wait u...

Re: Absolute Beginner!

Hi Clare! I'm lucky; I have a couple of good running shops near me. I went in the nearest one, threw myself on their mercy, had a video gait analysis done (running on a treadmill for the first time!) and got good advice and a great pair of shoes (for about £70.) First thing I'd do is look for a spec...

Re: How do you play music with the app?

Hi Rachellehd, Basically, the easiest way is just to start your music playing before you start Get Running. The music will simply carry on while Get Running is running, so if you put all your music on shuffle, or start a nice long playlist running, then start Get Running, the music will keep on goin...

Re: Absolute Beginner!

Hi Clare, I started last year -- also with 40 looming! -- and the only times it's really felt bad have been if I've gone out for a long, or hard run and then not stretched properly afterwards, mostly after finishing Get Running and moving onto longer distances. Get Running is designed to build you u...

Re: iOS4

Hi both! Benjohn, who wrote Get Running, has been looking into iOS 4 compatibility and making Get Running work as well as possible with the new OS. This post at Get Satisfaction outlines what's going on at the moment. Ben's on holiday right now, but he'll be back in a week or so, and will be picking...
