Re: Should I repeat week 3

Running outside is harder, there's no doubt about that. You can *simulate* running outdoors in the gym by putting the treadmill at an incline, but you still don't have to "push off the ground" as you do outside, you just have to keep up with the belt (i.e the ground moves for you), you als...

Re: Encouragement

Go for it! I had never run before 8 weeks ago and I just finished Week 9 Run 1 and have already run one 5K race with another scheduled for this weekend. You can do it, just take it one step at a time and give it 100%!

Re: Ankle pain

Did you get fitted for running shoes? It could be that you're rolling your ankle when you run which a properly fitted pair of running shoes may be able to help with. Good luck with it!

Re: Why 8mins to 20mins?

It's all about the challenge ;) The thing is you go from 2 runs of 8 minutes to 20 minutes, so really it's only an increase of 4 minutes, it's just that there's no walking in between. This run is mainly mental in my opinion - believe that you can do it. Start off slow so that you don't run out of st...

Re: Losing weight

Depends on whether you are eating more as well as the running. Running is great exercise but if you end up eating more to compromise for the extra effort you'll probably not lose weight. You WILL get fitter. I started noticing the increased aerobic fitness around the middle of week 3. Also you'll li...

Well that's week 8 done

Finished week 8 this evening :o A really lovely run tonight, not too hot and a nice summers evening. 3 more runs and I am into B210K. Next run will be Thursday (I tend to only leave one day between weeks now), and then another 5K race on Saturday then finish the programme next Monday before I fly of...

Re: I have gone from Couch to 5K

Haha, thats funny. I did wonder how many 5 .6 ks there could be. I'll be there on the Wednesday, not done it before but heard it's a good atmosphere with lots of food/drink afterwards. 10 September sounds like a good target, good luck :) Yup, it's a rather odd distance! I am there on the Thursday w...

Certainly is :) Which day are you doing, the Wednesday or the Thursday?

I booked a 10K today for 10th September :D

Re: Jumped the gun

Why not just go and do it for the experience? Quite a few people will probably walk-run it, so just do that. I loved my first organised 5k yesterday - it's such a buzz!
