Re: A graduate checking in.....

I'm glad I could provide you some reassurance after a tough week. I have heard, and I do believe, your worst runs come right before you see big improvement. And those tough runs are never going to go away, if you just come to accept that they are going to happen it makes it seem like running further...

Re: My reality - 6 months to get to 20 minutes

Congrats! After the 20 minute run, everything is downhill from there (but in a good way, lol). Soon you will find yourself running 40 minutes and wanting to do more. For me, 40 minutes was my 5k time so I kind of had to push further than the program. To be able to run a 5k in 30 minutes is my ultima...

Re: A graduate checking in.....

Siomongeorge, great to hear from you. Since my last post, I haven't been running as much. In the last two weeks I haven't ran at all due to weather and now a nasty cold. My plan is start back next week. Because I do best with a training plan my plan is to start the couch to 5k somewhere in the middl...

Re: A graduate checking in.....

I use two actually. For the same reason you just gave. I was just using runmeter for awhile by itself until one day it told me my mile was at 9 minutes and I knew it was lying to me as I generally can only run a mile in about 13:10 max (at first I felt really accomplished, what a let down, lol) so I...

Re: A graduate checking in.....

I also want to add that struggles with running are natural. I have had weeks where I would just stop running at a certain point and start walking.... no rhyme or reason, I would just say I couldn't do it. The only advice I have is this, KEEP AT IT. Some days will suck but hopefully the good days sta...

A graduate checking in.....

Hi All! I did this program starting in April 2012 and finished it all the way through. I am still running! I have an app that has logged all my runs and 6 to 7 months later I have kept improving. I now pay attention to distance and not so much to time. I run a couple days of week still for about 30 ...

Re: On to week 9!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SSDGUY! That is a much better explanation! LOL. I could see how that might seem like a snack. Sometimes I feel like it is. When I eat a light dinner I always allow myself popcorn.... the 98% fat free kind. It is low in cal, slow to eat, and for me is a good way to go to bed feeling full. I don't buy...

Re: Week 9 Run 1 DONE! Little happy happy dance

Week 9 R 2 was a failure. I ran for the first 10 minutes and then I just stopped and started walking and then did a run/walk for the remainder of the 30 minutes. I'm not sure why I walked, as it wasn't so much about physically not being able to do it. It was like my brain screamed at me "I DON'...

Re: On to week 9!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ive lost about 14 pounds since starting the program. However, you won't lose weight just doing the couch to 5k you must change your diet as well. I DO NOT agree with the post above mine. You should NEVER go to bed hungry and you shouldn't have just a snack for dinner but a well balanced dinner, perh...

Re: I think I became a runner today!

I LOVED reading this this morning! I know how you have struggled with different things throughout this and I am super proud of you for pushing through. There is some kind of event that happens at some point in week 7 through week 9 where you actually feel like you are a legit runner. At some points ...
