Being unwell
Having broken into Week 2 after three weeks of running Week 1, I was feeling proud. However, I'm now struck down with an awful cold, which seems to be heading for my sinuses and chest. Thick head, bad cough. I haven't run for five days and still can't drag myself out. Two questions - is it ok to bre...

Re: Sticky: Introductions!
A late intro from me, as I've done a few posts already. I'm a latecomer to running, a 57 year old mum, very overweight and loathe exercise. For some reason Charlie Brooker's article led me to the app. I put off starting for ages, but just after Christmas did my first 'run'. I could only manage one c...

Re: Another first timer thanks to Charlie Brooker
I share your views about running, and I too was brought to this by Charlie Brooker. But the awfulness of the first run does diminish. I start Week 2 tomorrow, after "only" 3 weeks on Week 1. Believe me that's a huge achievement for a fat, 57 year old exercise phobic woman! Good luck. Let's...

Re: Starting Week 2 tomorrow
I too am going for Week 2 Run 1 tomorrow. It's taken me nearly three weeks to complete Week 1. Initially I couldn't complete one whole minute of running, but I've been out eight times in all, and have completed all eight full one minute runs for the last three outings. I feel very proud of myself an...

Re: Re-running week 1
Thanks for the encouragement. It's good to be told that slow isn't necessarily bad. Today I did a Week 1 run for the sixth time and managed all 8 complete one minute runs. I haven't had any problems with my legs (yet) but I do get out of breath and hope that my heart holds out!

Re-running week 1
I started week 1 for the first time just after Christmas but by Run 3 had only managed one full 1 minute run each time, doing around 30 to 40 seconds on the other runs. Today I did a week 1 run for the fifth time and mangaged SIX full one minute runs. Woo hoo! I won't move on to week 2 until I can d...

Re: Never run before
Thanks for your encouragement, Catherine. It's good to know that my rather pathetic start might lead somewhere. I went for a walk today, as it was not a 'run day', just to keep the limbs going. Back to the start of Week One for me tomorrow.

Re: Never run before
I'm 57, about 35 pounds overweight and have never so much as run for a bus. I was a fat child, fat teenager and fat woman. Various diets have worked for a while, but I've never been active. So I'm not sure why Charlie Brooker's article led me to download Runkeeper. I've been looking at it on my phon...
