Re: Help please. :)

Hi RayyIoo, I agree with Queeny. Well done for starting this programme and do try and stick with it, you will feel really pleased with yourself when you finish. Make sure your running shoes are the right pair for you. Go to a proper sports shop and get advice. My shins really hurt when I first start...

Re: Plonker!

Hi I'm glad I'm not alone! I did wk4 run 2 yesterday (sunday) and it was better than the 1st run - as they always are. I run slowly so my legs are never too much of an issue. My lungs are the problem, although they worked better this time. Run 3 is tomorrow and then there is the often dreaded week 5...

Re: Week 6 Run 3 question - pace?

I did my first 5k at week 8 but did it in 42 minutes. My aim now is to get it to 30 minutes. My husband does his in 22 minutes but he runs regular 5 and 10 mile runs through the week, so it depends how fit you are. I know the programme is based on couch to 5k but I think the emphasis is based on rea...

Re: Returning after 4 months of back pain!

YAY !!!! Did run 2 week 2 yesterday and my lungs seem to be catching up quite quickly. My next run is due on Monday but I won't be able to do that so will do it today. I know we are supposed to have a days rest but as I have had 4 months rest I need to make up for it. Hope you are all still going gr...

Re: Returning after 4 months of back pain!

Just did week 2 run 1 and it was great. Got a bit tight in my left hamstring towards the end but stretching soon sorted that out. My back was completely pain free so I am really pleased and hope to continue. My lung capacity has really shrunk! But it is definitely better this time around. next run o...

Re: Week one run one

Hi Salty, well done on your first run. You may already know this but shin problems are often to do with your trainers so make sure you get the right pair for your running style. I had really painful shins on my first run so got new trainers with the advice of the guy in the sports shop and haven't h...

Re: Returning after 4 months of back pain!

Yay!! I did day 1 week 1 yesterday having had a dream about running the night before  I managed the whole run without any back niggles at all and am still pain free 48 hours later! I have clearly lost some of my fitness as by run 7 I was beginning to struggle with the breathing. Mind you, the...

Returning after 4 months of back pain!

Hi, I completed this brilliant programme back at the end of June (my photo is on the home page ;) ). I was 3 to 4 stone overweight and very unfit indeed (and 42) but continued to enjoy a regular run and reaching a top distance of nearly 6km! Unfortunately at the beginning of July I strained my back,...

Re: weight loss?

Hi runamc I thought about it long and hard. I tried starting the programme again by jogging the walks and running the runs but I found it very difficult to control the speed and absolutely knackered myself out in the first 5 minutes! I looked around at other apps that take you to 10k but I am not so...
