...Really need to stop smoking too, really not helping. lol. x Yup - you are right on that one! Good luck. Others here have been runnnig while still smoking, and while quitting. So it's do-able. But hard work. Mind you - when you have packed in you can then spoil yourself with some jazzy hivizibili...

Re: So disappointed - NOT ANYMORE!!

I'm a little puzzled .... Hi Birgit. If you tap the little map on the bottom of the getRunning app - you will notice in week 5 and week 6 that runs 1, 2 and 3 all are slightly different. Unlike the rest of the GetRunning app - where all three runs are the same. w5r1 = 3 x 5min runs w5r2 = 8 + 8 w5r...

I bet you'll find it hard to curb your enthusiasm in w6r1 and stick to 5+8+5! But don't rush it. Cos W6R3 is 1 x 25min! :-)

Re: I'm new and sooo unfit!

Hiya. Welcome! You've done the hardest bit! Getting out there and starting. Sure- you may feel unfit now - but if you stick with this app and follow Coach Claire's advice then you'll hopefully be on track to find a new you by late 2011 or early 2012. Imagine it. You will be able to run for 30 mins (...

Re: Is it really better for your knees to run on a treadmill

Hi Amy. I've certainly heard it said that treadmills can be kinder to the knees than roads. But the biggest factor - I think - is that you have the right running shoes Treadmill or road will all cause problems if your shoes don't absorb impact or don't compensate for over-pronation. Personally I don...

Re: week 5 run 2

We all have bad runs/days. Sometimes it is like this before we get better. There's no harm in re-doing W5R2 again if you want to. The GetRunning app allows you to re-do runs. Keep your pace slow - the biggest mistake - as the runs get longer - is to try running a bit faster than the body wants. Good...

Re: Gutted!

Just completed w5r2 tonight and felt awful during and after. Couldn't get myself going or motivated for the run so just jogged which seems to be the norm of late. I've got my first 25 min non stop on Thurs and i'm not looking forward to it at all but will give it my best shot. Hi Jimmy. Sorry to he...

Re: Just Started

What next? I'm loving running and loving this forum and the virtual running folks I've met here. It's great so share enthusiasm and see the progress being made. Have tried a different runners forum - but don't get the positive vibes I get here. Have been reading some stuff on http://www.coolrunning....
