Re: Argh!!! Help please
You asked for a confidence and motivation boost – but I think you sound confident and motivated already, which is brilliant! As you've said, your worry is of being noticed. There are a lot of runners around these parts (I live in London), of all ages and abilities. I see plenty of the "proper&...

Re: Terrified for my next run!
I think for you, this is just a mental roadblock. Start week 4, and if you struggle, then you can redo week 3. You shouldn't fear running for that long, if you have never tried!

Re: Food/fuel question
After you run (or do any sort of workout) you have about a 45 minute window where your body is in prime mode to absorb nutrients. That's why for people who work out regularly, you see them drinking shakes or eating a protein bar as they are leaving the gym. Your body needs protein after you work out...

Re: Week 2 Run 1 completed
I did week 2 run 1 yesterday, and I struggled too. I finished the runs, but really had to push myself. It might only be an increase of 30 seconds for each run interval, but 30 seconds is a long time! My head wasn't in the right place today to focus on everything BUT the run I was doing, and that can...

Re: Shin splints
I have shin splint problems too, even while doing the Get Running program. It's always always ALWAYS very important to stretch after you run. I know it hurts, but you need to do it! The Get Running app doesn't mention it at the end of each run for nothing! A second thing I do after my runs is ice my...

Re: Get back on it
You can always go back to the running store you got your shoes from, and ask them what you can do about the twinge in your ankle, see if they have any advice. That seems like a good option to me, since they already analyzed your gait, and know what they are talking about.

Re: Whats more important 5K or 30mins ?
I have found a bowl of oatmeal an hour before I hit the treadmill or pound pavement really helps me. It gives me the energy I need to get through my run, and not make me feel fatigued. (I mean, aside from the fact that I'm running for 30 minutes.

Re: Whats more important 5K or 30mins ?
I just started, but I think that trying to put both distance and time together might be your problem (aside from not eating breakfast/anything pre-workout). I think that focusing on improving one area, or reaching one goal at a time might help you. I know for me, sticking with a slower pace the firs...

Re: Running shoes?
That's actually what I ended up doing last night. My husband and I went, because he needed new running shoes also. But he basically runs for a living. (He's a Marine.)

Re: The mission to lose weight-Week 1 Run 1 complete!
1% chocolate milk is my go-to after any work out, either a run, kickboxing class, or something else. It's tasty, so it feels like I'm cheating, and it gives me the protein that I need after a workout!
Sometimes I throw some in the blender with strawberries and a scoop of protein powder. Delish!
