Re: So disappointed

Hi Emma, Don't lose heart. I only managed 14 mins of my w5r3 and then I was finished. I didn't repeat and I managed the 25 min run at the end of the next week. I know how you are feeling right now. Do it again if you like (and do it slower). Maybe leave the dog behind for this one (you can pick up w...

Re: Weight gain

Muscle weighs more than fat Lee. Also, you may be eating more. I know my appetite increased with exercise.

Re: Bad run today

Update: I finished week 6 yesterday. And I ran the full 25 mins. I'm delighted because that means I don't have to repeat. What I learned: Slow down, slow down , slow down. Really concentrating on that the whole time meant I din't start speeding up again. Listening to my breathing to make sure it was...

Re: I'm stuck!!

I know this is probably too late and you've done it already but just in case anybody else has the same problem.... I was not able to complete my w5 r3 for exactly the same reason. I got to 14 mins and I was finished. I decided to do week 6 regardless. When it came to w6r3 (yesterday) I approached it...

Re: Finished!

Congratulations Petra, I have lost less weight than I expected so far too (about a kilo a week - just). I am changing shape slightly though. On some forum somewhere I saw the following quote... You can't run yourself thin. Running alone is not enough. You need to address eating habits too. In my cas...

Re: Week 4 ex smoker

It's very tempting to push too hard too soon. The "runners high" is hard to resist on rest days. The rest days are REALLY important. Glad you learnt the lesson before injury Lee. @Catherine, You don't need expensive shoes, but you do need the right shoes, particularly if you over or under ...

Re: A New Me

Hi Catherine, Where I run is fairly secluded but I found that as I approached people I would speed up a bit. I've stopped that now because all it did was mess up my run by tiring me too quickly. I realised that nobody else actually cares how fast or slow I'm going. It was all in my mind... that voic...

Re: Bad run today

I didn't make it. I went down to the track only to discover that there was ladies athletic training going on. So I ended up going my usual route. First 10 mins were fine but when I turned there was a huge head wind and it was really rough. Struggled through another 5 minutes before resorting to run/...

Re: Motivation

It's working for lots of people. No reason why you can't be running 5 k in December! Ps. Running in the rain can be nice.
