Re: W5R3 20 min done!

I do my 20 min run Friday! I'm totally stressed about it! The 8 min runs were hard today. Really hope I can do it. Not really sure why they would throw a 20 min run in at this point. So far I had had good success. Wish me luck! You can do it, and here's why: w5r1 has you running for 15 minutes. w5r...

Re: Wk 5 run 1

Just about to move to W5R1 and I'm scared. Thought I might throw up last night after my run! 20mins non stop - eek! Currently, I'm training for a half marathon, and every weekend when it comes time for the long run, I get that feeling. Six miles, what? WHAT? My gut reaction is always "I can't ...

Re: Wk 5 run 1

I remember doing w5r3, thinking there was NO WAY I'd be able to finish... And I did just fine. Take it slowly! And I do mean slowly!

Re: Week 6

Week 6 goes back to intervals briefly. Surprisingly, a lot of people really struggle with it after the big 20 minute run. The pitfall is in assuming you can tackle the intervals with no trouble because you just completed a full 20 minutes, but it's still really important to pace yourself and take it...

Re: W4R2 harder than W4R2 :-(

The important thing to remember is that you got out there and did it even though you struggled. You had a goal, and you reached it, difficulty or no. I had a really awful run on Thursday, just a combo of forgetting to eat a banana before I went out, and forgetting to bring something to drink, and th...

Re: Just completed W4R3 week 5 is intimidating!

Slow your pace as necessary to finish strong! It doesn't matter how slow you're going, you want to make sure you have enough energy to get you through the ENTIRE run.

Re: Question regarding breathing while you run?

What works for one person may not work for another. Having said that, most people DO breathe through their mouths the whole time (I do!) but the trick is to not be gasping through a wide open maw. Steady in, steady out. Most runners will inhale/exhale to a steady rhythm of 2 in/2 out, but some 4 in/...

Re: How to identify, treat and avoid 7 most common injuries

This is a great list, is there any way you could make it a sticky post? I think having this up top where it's easy to see would be really useful.
