Re: I think I became a runner today!

That's brilliant. Well done, I'm going to 'graduate' next week, then, the local 5k starts near my work, so I'm going to run the course to see what time I can do it in.

Re: On Week 2 - Legs sore!! Trainers to blame?

I bought mine in a pound shop! :p running shops are v expensive , maybe just take done advice. Also I think you may be pushing too hard, sand, hills, really? I'm on week 8 and still avoid hills as much as possible!

Re: Week 6 run 3 - 25min - failed

I found these runs the toughest so far, I think it's your brain partly panicking about it being all running and no walking, partly saying it's only a few minutes more than last week, but, more importantly, it's about learning the correct pace for you to make sure you go for the full time ( who cares...

Re: On Week 2 - Legs sore!! Trainers to blame?

I know what your saying, I tend to get a' bee in my bonnet' about my latest thing, buy all the kit, only for it to lie almost unused a few weeks later. This has been different though, I've stuck to this until now, and I've only just over a week left. I did however buy the cheapest pair of Nikes in t...

I think I became a runner today!

Week 8 run2 today. I forced myself to get out and run today, the first few minutes were very tough and I wanted to stop but I forced myself to continue. About half way through I had an almost religious moment, my breathing became much easier, and my legs became re-energized and I was able to let my ...

Re: My first 5k (race for life) tomorrow! Eeeek

Well done! That's a really good time. I won't be doing a race for life for obvious reasons (I'm a man) and as for my MiL, I'd prefer her to my own parents anyday, running 5k from her does seem a little drastic but understandable on times!

Re: Week 9 Run 1 DONE! Little happy happy dance

Well done, I'm doing wk8 r2 today, so I'm not far behind you in the program, however, rubbings still a chore for me, I love the refreshed, wide awake and accomplished feeling I get after, but it's making room for it in my schedule at the moment is difficult and trying to fit running inbetween shower...

Re: Some questions (currently on week 4)

The beauty of doing this program is that no one is looking over your shoulder telling you what's right and wrong. Do what you feel is right. I took a couple of weeks off through illness at wk 6, but immediately jumped back at wk7, then because of bad weather and life in general, I only managed 2 run...
