Re: Week 6 (mon-wed-fri) by Linda231

I just want to do a parkrun as a 55 year old bloke and not be last, and then continue to improve until I hit my comfortable weight and running pattern. And be chatted to as an equal by the others, not as some sort of saddo old fat bloke. The "equal" thing was brought into focus today by a ...

Re: Does anyone not manage?

What Laura said. I had done nothing apart from hill-walking for a couple of decades and despite finding each run/week a challenge have been enthused by my improving ability to go that little bit further (figuratively speaking). I repeated five runs through taking time out for injury and hated every ...

Re: Week 6 (mon-wed-fri) by Linda231

Yes - I worked that out but it doesn't stop me wanting to compete with myself now as I am very slow. Tomorrow on my 25 minute run I intend to take it very steady indeed. I have a nice route planned West down a canal, over a railway line, over a road and into a big park, then reverse it. Pretty flat ...

Re: Mutual Support

You'll get there Becca. We've all struggled through. I think back to W1R1 and the utter desperation I felt at about run 6, just willing it all to end. Tomorrow I am due to run for 25 minutes and I am, frankly, gobsmacked at what I have achieved.

Not my best average speed but still better than a couple of weeks ago and before. Good luck today and learn from my silly mistake. The wine tasting was fun though!

Re: Week 6 (mon-wed-fri) by Linda231

W6R2 done. I think I tried too hard to improve my speed in the first ten minutes which led to the second ten being a bit of a nightmare - sore thigh muscle, on the verge of a stitch and just willing it all to come to an end whilst gasping for breath. Ah well - another test with the 25 minute run on ...

Trust the programme build you up - it really works. I doubted myself big time and am now in W6.
