Re: downed my second week! Ugh!

Had that problem when I tried to run last year (on my own with no programme). Highly recommend you get gait analysis at a specialist running shop and get shoes to fix any pronation problems. In my case I overpronate and just having the right shoes for me made a world of difference. Also, try to avoi...

Re: Is it really better for your knees to run on a treadmill

There is a lot more give in a treadmill than a road. Keep a 1% incline on it to make it equivalent to running on the flat outside. Like keep trying.... Not my thing. I do have a weak left knee but so far so good on this programme outdoors but with shoes that compensate for my over pronation. The rig...

Re: I'm new and sooo unfit!

Hey gem, To answer your question I felt like I might die in the first week ( but strangely that didn't put me off!). My other half was worried that I would have a heart attack because of the state of me when I got back. Now I can run for 5k non stop and love it. My other half is about to start week ...

Re: 5k!!!!!!

It looks like my first 5k race will be September. (jingle bells 5k in Dublin). No poppy races here. Very few 5k events in general as far as i can see. Doing the Dublin marathon on Monday. That was my whole reason for starting this. I will be walking of course, but a few weeks ago I couldnt have walk...

Re: A New Me

It's been tipping down in Dublin and Wicklow. Ran through flooded roads, and passed out stuck cars. Enjoyed my run hugely. After all, you can only get wet to a certain extent and then you just can't get any wetter. Isn't it weird that you would not let anything get in the way of your run, when befor...

Well done Emma. It's no surprise, but it's good to hear you did it. You're a runner!

Re: Week 1 completed

woah Petra, don't know if I'm more impressed or jealous! What's the first week of the bridge like? 40 mins seems like a hell of a jump from 30. I can't wait to get started. Only a few weeks to go. Can't believe I love running.

5k!!!!!!

I'm over the moon. I just ran a little over 5k in around 32 minutes. I know I'm not supposed to yet (w8r1), but I couldn't resist. Just 2 mins to shave off the time over the last two weeks and I'll be doing a 30min 5k! I can't believe I can actually run for 5k non stop. What an amazing feeling. PS. ...

Re: Week 1 completed

Well done Malteser. That's the hard bit done. The weeks fly by. You're going to be a real runner before you can believe it and then you won't care about people seeing you!
