W3R2 Inner knee pain - help!

Hi guys!

So I have just completed w3r2 and it was good and bad.

The bad - I had major inner knee pain at the beginning and I don't know why. It is just on the inside of my left knee and it feels maybe like I have twisted it? Does anyone have any suggestions on how to help it heal or even what it could be? On my last run on Sunday I did go over on my ankle so I wonder if that is what has done it.

But the silver lining is - I didn't give up - I did my entire run - just a little slower than usual and because I was slower I actually went back and repeated a set of 1.5 min run and 3 min run! So all in all I ran for 13.5 mins tonight! Yey!

I ve been getting shin splints since the start but now theyve gone its the knees that hurt.
Sorry I cant help with a solution or reason why it happens but Im feeling for you with my legs up :D

So just finished my run and I was still in a lot of pain - I'm so frustrated! Fell like I'm falling behind where I have been. My knee totally slowed me right down and I covered a much shorter distance.
I'm foning to get properly fitted for trainners at the weekend so hopefully that will help.
How did you get on tonight bex?

Weeeeeeeellllll, I sorta cheated  I went up to the gym and did my run on the treadmill as I came to the conclusion the impact on the knees wouldnt be as hard and it wasnt. Still hurt though but not as painful. Trouble is I sort of feel as todays run didnt count cos of that and like you I was much slower.
Small steps.
Im def going to get some knee supports too. Im thinking its just really bad aches because were not used to it. Thing is if it was anything like strains or tendons it wouldnt be both knees would it?
My knees are flipping sore now too.
And to think I wanted to run the whole of the race for life next weekend hahahahha thats not going to be happening :?

Take no risks with your joints. If the inner knee pain continues go and see your doctor - I damaged my inner cartilage on W7R3 and am now looking at months before I can get back to running - probably after surgery. Oddly I can use my cross-trainer as there is no impact on the knee.

Oh no - that's terrible news! I hope it all works out ok for you. Thanks for the word of warning though. I'm going to get fitted for trainners this weekend and take an extra day rest. If its no better after my next run I think I will book in to see the doc/sports physio.

Hi I completed this app last November and I had exactly the same symptoms you describe . I to had just done week 3 run 2 and the pain got so bad I had to walk . In my case this is what I did , I took a week off from the app and iced the affected area when I could for 10 mins at a time , took plenty of rest when I could also simple things like goin upstairs just one step at a time instead of 2 or running up , in general carry on your normal daily life but take things a bit easier . After doing this I felt ready to run again and repeated run 2 and I never looked back I then completed the app as planned , even though this was completed last November I'm still running 4 times a week and still lovin it , hope this helps main thing is don't be to downhearted we all get niggles like this and don't be afraid to rest (listen to your body) , one other thing if you haven't already done so is get your feet checked for proper running shoes any decent running shop can do this for you ,
Good luck
Carl

That sounds so reassuring. Must admit I found it weird that everything was going fine until week 3.
