Week 5 Run 3

Post by Col3377 »

Hi

Hope someone can help. I have started using the get running app and so far all is going well. I have just completed my 2* 8 minute runs. My question is that my next run is a solid 20 minutes, surely this can't be right as week 6 run 1 is run 5, walk 3, run 8, walk 3 & then a final 5 minute run. Is some of the runs in the wrong order on my app?

Many people get a bit of a shock when they see this -- I was a bit apprehensive myself! -- but yes, that's the correct run. This jump up to continuous running should be achievable at this stage, and most people surprise themselves by taking it in their stride when it comes along. (You may have built more stamina and muscle than you think in the last month!)

If you don't feel ready, you can always drop back to an earlier week/run and do a bit more practice first.

Cheers,

Matt

Yes, that one is a bit of an eye opener. It is where you see what you are capable of right now. As Claire says, slow down if you have to, maintain your running motion and you will do it. As Mattsaid, if you try it and it is too much, go back to the earlier week 5 runs. Let us know how you are doing!
