Hello all. Just got back from w6d1 and am in pain! Have been fine with all the runs so far and even found the dreaded w5d3 surprisingly bareable so very confused.
Was fine for the first 5 min run, in hindsight maybe even went too fast as was feeling so good but after around 2 mins of the longer run had pain on left ankle. Really slowed down but pain progressed up left shin and had to stop and walk for a few mins. Managed the last 5 mins REALLY slowly but still have a sore ankle after stretching.
Really not sure what happened, any thoughts?
Week 6 and ouch!
Re: Week 6 and ouch!
Obvious ones would be:
Heel Striking
Tension in your lower legs
Not lifting your feet
Posture too upright
Focusing on these things (and other Chi Running techniques) has stopped my shin and other lower leg issues.
Also, you may need to step back a week or so to ensure your body is used to the increase in distance you may now be running continuously.
Brian.
