Festive seasonal running disorder?
Festive seasonal running disorder?
Agh! I tried to run on boxing day, week 6 run 3 only to discover the effects of over indulgence; too much cake, roast dinner, late nights drinking and chocolate. There was no way I could run for 25 mins without stopping. I'm going to have to start the week again, maybe several times. I feel like I've really not been progressing for a while now, and we've still got new year to pile on a bit more. Really all I want to do is to curl up on the sofa with a good book, a glass of something and a mincepie....

Right there with you. My legs felt like lead today. Week 6 run 2. However I think part if it was not drinking enough water. Hopefully next time will be better.

Totally agree. I feel like I'm carrying a few mince pies and a hundred weight of Christmas cake with me. Due to do week 5 run 3 tomorrow (eek!) - wish me luck fellow runners

Oh my goodness, me too! I think I am going to have to repeat week 6, as the holiday indulgences have added an extra load to carry when I run
I am really starting to notice that what I am eating the day before is effecting my running efficiency. It is simple really nice salads and meat, chicken or fish = energetic run...cakes, biscuits, chocolates, bread = sluggish run.
I did an extra session on Christmas day though! Couldn't believe it, I just felt like going.
However, I did not finish the last 5 minutes of Week 6, Day 2 . My own fault really, went after a coffee and when the temperature was climbing up to 36C. Damn. Will repeat w6d2 tomorrow and then will have to do week 6 again next week!
***UPDATE: Week 6, Day 2 went out the window and went straight into the 25 minute session...and completed it!! Woo hooo burnt that bit of chocolate off! Yay..stuff repeating a week!

Re: Festive seasonal running disorder?
I dis my 20 min run just before christmas so i figured to have the christmas period off from running as a break tonallow my legs to recover. It worked very well, my legs feel stronger than ever so ill be ready to rock again soon as im back at work. This is good because i have rather overindulged on the old choccies and having gone from a 40 inch waist to a 36 inch waste i rather need to get back to some decent exercise so as not to undo all that hard work haha
You can run but you'll just die tired
