Just started 2nd Week

Post by BryanOC »

Hello All

I've just finished my first run of the 2nd week and the legs are sore. This is the beginning of my training for the 2011 great north run.

The other posts on this site have been the push I needed. I've sort of paid lip service to the gym. I tend to do weights and the cardio stuff has been a killer.

But every run starts with the first step.

Cheers Bryan

Today was 2nd run of second week. I managed to get to the end!!!

It's now 8pm and my legs are killing me, but I feel good in myself.

Cheers

That is great!!! Are you stretching before AND after? Good stretching will help your soreness.

Keep it up! Even with stretching, my legs were sore the first week or so.

Hello All

Thanks for the support and advice.
Did last run of 2nd week yesterday and weird thing is that the walks seemed to go faster than the runs. But I got there and thought to myself "get in there." then thought "oh no 3 minute runs next week."
I'm away from home Thursday and Friday so I'll be doing first run week 3 on Sunday and not Monday so as to fit in travel.

Good luck to all. Bryan

Hello All

Just finished my first run of week 3. Feel great (20 minutes after run).

I'm now doing the runs with my Nike+ as well. It's great to see the extra distance covered with each run.

Cheers

Hello All

Week 3 run 2 now complete. Strange but found it harder than week 3 run 1. I suppose mental attitude does matter. I'm currently sitting in a hotel room away from wife and kids and feeling a bit hacked off.
The stretching is helping and so far injury free.

Plus side though home tomorrow and run 3 Saturday.

Good luck to all.

Week 3 finished. Feel good. The best bit about the program is that I now feel good after the runs rather than exhausted.

Week 4 starts on Tuesday.

Good luck all

Cheers
