Ladies running shoes advice?
Ladies running shoes advice?
Just started the programme I'm on week 2 now. I have a great pair of Nike trainers called shox go, I have googled them but this pair seems to be no longer available. I am going to buy a new pair of trainers as the pair I am wearing are nearly worn down, anyone any advice on a good pair with plenty of cushion?

I got fitted out at the local sports shoe store that had a computer that tracked my step. So I made them do all that work for me, then I went and bought my pair online for much cheaper. I got a pair of Mizuno Wave Alchemy 11s, as they give my turning ankles support and control. Asics Kayanos are supposed to be one of the best running shoes available, but because my ankles turn in, I needed the control shoe that Mizuno had.

I've heard Nike Shox are NOT good for running! I've used Asics. They are definitely comfortable!! But like the previous poster, my ankles turn in so I had to switch. I'm currently trying out Brooks and Saucony shoes. If you don't have the ankle problems, try out Asics. They always come up on searches I do come up with Asics. But to be on the safe side, find a running store so they can evaluate your feet and gait.

Id say that brand and cost are largely irrelevant. Just get a gait analysis done in a store that knows what they are doing (i.e not JJB Sports or sportsworld) and follow their advice.
You can run but you'll just die tired

I agree with Jysmystry. A good sports shop or specialist running shop will analyse your running style and recommend the correct shoe for you. I have a great pair of medium support running shoes which I found where the most comfortable after having tried on and tested (on the running machine in the shop) about 6 other pairs. Incidentally, my new shoes are also 1/2 size bigger than my normal shoe size which makes a difference too.
Its very important to get the correct shoe for YOU, not anyone else, to avoid injury.
Good luck in your shoe quest and happy running

Yup, I'll join the "find a good running shoe shop" chorus.
If it helps, this is my blog entry from when I bought my very first pair of shoes, which should be roughly what's going to happen if you go into a decent shop. I was a bit scared of all the skinny fit people at first, but it worked out fine and I've run through a few more pairs of the same shoe since then without too many problems...
