Phew, just managed w3r1 this morning! It was tough but I did it. After being stuck on week 2 for three weeks because of illness, I was really looking forward to moving on, and I figured I'd be ready for it, but it felt like such a step up. Something I liked though was that Clare seemed to be aware this week would be trickier - I liked that she kept saying if it was difficult to go more slowly. That was hard for me when I kept getting evils from a slightly scary (but very unfit) looking teenage girl - it was an incentive to go faster to get away from her!
Definitely one of those runs to file under 'not fun until it's done', though... but so so pleased to have managed it.
W3R1 Done!
Re: W3R1 Done!
Well done! You will soon be looking back with disbelief that you found it tough. I can't believe how quickly your endurance improves. But, today has been a good run day for me and I am feeling very positive.
Keep going!
Keep going!
Re: W3R1 Done!
Thanks! I did the second one today and it felt just as hard, though. I really almost stopped about 40 seconds from the end of the last three-minute run, and the only thing that got me through was sheer bloody-mindedness, but I hated every second of that last run! There's another one to go this week, of course, but already I'm wondering how on earth I'm going to manage five whole minutes... I've never been able to run for that long in one go before, in my whole life. I'm honestly pretty terrified!

Hi there!! Hold on , it is always harder when you have been ill!! You keep going, thats important, but go sllooower. I changed from normal shoes to sporting shoes in this weeks my W3r1. I had a bit of acking muscle in my right thight because of running wayyyy tooooo fast last week. So now I thought : i really have to make these three minute runs!! So slow slow but running even managed with reasonably normal breathing, even squeezed out a faster very last 30 seconds "sprint". And thanks to my better supporting shoes. Don't expect anything just try to continue the 3 minutes. Let go of negative thoughts and enjoy the surroundings, you Can do it

Re: W3R1 Done!
Thank you so much! That's really encouraging and helpful. I think I have been going too fast because there have been other people on the same route as me, walking, and I've wanted to overtake them as quickly as possible because I feel so self-conscious! Maybe I should go out earlier in the morning to avoid this? Also I've been running in £6 trainers I got from the supermarket... maybe time to invest in some actual running shoes?!
