Staying Dry

Post by Learningtorun »

Hi all,

I'm on week six of the program, and so far have had a great experience. It's so exciting to see my progress and to finally be able to run! Thanks for making such a great app, and thanks all, for contributing to the forum community and being so encouraging.

My runs have all gone well so far (more or less), but today I ran into a hiccup. When I was just over halfway through my run, the skies decided to open up and I got soaked. It doesn't really bother me to get wet, but it does bother my iphone. For about fifteen minutes afterward, one of the speakers didn't work, making me a bit anxious. It was fine after it dried out, but it was enough to make me not want to repeat the experience. I've read posts where people have mentioned rainy runs, and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for keeping the phone dry in case the weather unexpectedly acts up again. Are there waterproof arm bands or pouches you recommend? Or should I just make sure to always have a sandwich bag with me?

Thanks for your help!

Hello Learningtorun,

I have a waterproof armband for my iphone bought at Target, brand Belkin.
Check out their website. http://www.belkin.com
Hope this info helps.
Thanks,

Whilst its true, your iPhone, like most phones won't be happy in a rain shower, however its worth noting, there is only one speaker built into your iPhone!

If by speakers you mean the 2 small cut outs in the case either side of the dock connector on the base, then one is indeed a speaker to offer the speaker-phone/music playback functions, the other is where your mic is hidden away for voice control and chatting on the phone.

As for waterproofing, I use an armband made of neoprene, never had any problems to date...

You could run with a bum bag on and put your phone inside and just zip it shut as much as you can without squashing the headphone cord.
