Phew!!! Another toughy!

Post by Hostiemostie »

So, just completed W4R1 and it was a real struggle.
My breathing was ok, no severe panting and my lungs didn't feel like they were going to explode, but my poor poor legs felt like I was running in wet concrete, they were so heavy and tired!
I kept a VERY slow steady run pace (I'm sure I must look ridiculous plodding along) but I'm always telling myself "this is the beginning, it will get better" over and over.

The fact I'm slightly jet lagged and tired myself might also factor in, but still I'm so glad it's another run ticked off the list!!

I also started using run keeper today for the first time, so I was curious as to how slow I actually was running............it hadn't picked up GPS and so I apparently ran 0 miles at 0 speed!!! Hmmm! :|

Either way, yet again I'm chuffed with my achievements, this is the furthest I've been in the programme without quitting or restarting it. Yeay to me.........Mini high 5!!! :P

Yay - well done. It is annoying when the GPS doesn't work, it's quite good around here but I am starting to know where all the black spots are :)

Well done hostie!!! And as Claire says: it gets easier each time!!
Today I did W3R3 and felt good. I had plenty energy so I did another 3 minutes untill i felt my legs more. Also used Runkeeper for the first time: hihihi I did not check ALL settings so I had two ladies talk at the same time!! And that while I like it so much being alone during running! ;-). Anyway it showed when running 5,4 mph. Also showed that I go up the stairs with 11,1 mph ????? ( after stretching outside there is onexlast peak in the diagramm)
Todie you will be fine tomorrow, just keep those feet moving, good luck

Thanks Missbossie, I took your advice and just kept moving at all costs... and I did it! SO proud of myself right now, three weeks ago I could barely run for 90 seconds!

And massive high five Hostie, it's such an achievement to run for 5 whole minutes! I felt pretty ridiculous plodding along at snail's pace too, but getting through it is the main thing and speed comes later. GO US!

Well done Hostiemostie, Toadie and Missbossie :)

After repeating a couple of the W3 runs last week, I managed my first W4 run this morning and it felt quite 'achievable'. Dead chuffed! :D I am pretty sure, had I been using Runkeeper though, and the GPS HAD been working, it still would have shown me moving at 0 miles and speed but hey, who cares, I managed to keep going!

Awesome, high 5! I love that we're all at about the same point in our training plan and can encourage each other. And I really do think that keeping going is the main thing, psychologically as much as anything else, and speed comes later!

Just finished w4r2 without any problems (except slight chest pain, which I put down to it being the first really cold morning we've had), even though I'm so slow it's ridiculous! Maybe for the next one I'll speed up a little, but honestly right now I'm just like plod, plod, plod, plod... still tough though, and so pleased when I finish it :D

Well done Toadie! :D

A bit concerned about your mention of chest pain though.... Maybe you should mention that to doctor? :?

To my fellow-sister runners; good on us. Keep going. You know actually I do not care any longer what anyone thinks. I had a terrible dislike to running but not for sports. I am glad i can do 5 minutes now. I try to lift up my legs a bit and run straight, relax those muscles while running - not cramp up. Let loose my shoulders, my hands..... I will not explode, nor will my head, I will not drop down short out of breath, I will run my own slow silly way and enjoy!! And I hope you do as well.
Everybody else wait and see us in a few weeks, HA!!
Greetings
