Thanks for your progress reports :-) It's great hearing you are doing well!

Just wanted to chip in and let you know that extending a week any time you want to is fully endorsed by us at Get Running – I did it myself plenty of times on my first time through ;-)

Thanks for the words of wisdom and encouragement. Week 3 run 2 completed this morning and it was a little easier again than the 1st. Still terrified if the impending runs in the next few weeks but one week at a time...

Had an unforeseen wee break for the last 6 days so completed w3 r3 tonight. It was great. Didn't struggle with it at all. Now looking forward and dreading w4 later this week.
Already I definitely think there's some muscle toning going on and I've lost 1/2 stone so something is working! :D

So, week 4 run 1 done and it was all good. I'm thinking it's more mind over matter. The 5 minute runs were much better than I expected.
When I started week 1 I was huffing and puffing throughout the runs and that seems to have settled down and it's all much steadier now.
To anyone starting out - stick with it. This is the 1st time in years I've stuck with an exercise regime and really enjoyed it!

I have also signed up for race for life on June 19. I am 52 years. Done yoga for over ten years but have not done much aerobic stuff apart from walking my dogs. I repeated week one twice to let my ankles build some stamina. Just did week 2 run 3 easily and enjoyed it a lot. I weigh 10 stone and I am 5ft4in so I could do with loosing half a stone but mainly doing this to improve cardiac fitness and tone up. The menopause has left me feeling a bit 'weak'. I feel better already and plan to repeat some weeks as needed. I look forward to hearing about your progress. Most importantly running in memory of my two best girlfriends who died last year one from ovarian cancer and one from bone cancer! That is my real motivation. My fitness will just be a side effect and all my colleagues are sponsoring me. Hope to raise a good amount for cancer research UK
